Default Super Cruise Aug 1st Golden, Co.

I was thinking of a GTG on Sat. Aug. 1st, tying it in with the Golden Super Cruise. We could make a whole day of it possibly traveling the Lariat Loop, maybe up to Mt Evans then in for Cruiise Night in Golden and then cruise over to Piflers Sport Tavern in Lakewood, Co. for a drink with any other cars from the cruise, then call it a night.

I am attaching the info for the Aug 1st Super Cruise which is tied into a 3 day event called Roddin the Rockies between July 31st through Aug.2nd. I thought we would maybe do the alternate loop which takes us to Buffalo Bills Grave and past Red Rocks called the Lariat Loop. You wiill find all the infomation on their web site. I wasn't planning on the poker run but it is an option. The Super Cruise between 6 and 9 pm should be fun.

I am going up there on the 4th of July for the cruise and fireworks, to get a better idea on what we may need to do to get the most out of the whole day.

It sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I hope we get some interest from all of our Crossfire friends.

BUMP!

I just got back from the July 4th Super Cruise in Golden... Unbelievable, it took me back to cruising Whittier Blvd in Calif. in the 60's. Even though there was rain early the cars were dried off and parked everwhere. We took our camping chairs and sat on the Ave and just watched them all go by, then we picked up around 8 pm and cruised through "Sonic and right back on it" as the song goes. Everything from 3 new SS Camaros, to Vipers, to blown buggys and everthing in between. It is a 2 1/2 mile section of Golden that has cars parked all up and down the Ave.

It is worth the experience, King Soopers and Sonic are in the same parking lot so you can go over and have a shake and watch all the action right there.

Bump... Two weeks to go before the Golden Super Cruise and Roddin the Rockies.

There is a car show at noon on main street in Central City, tied to the Golden Roddin the Rockies, Friday July 31st. Mary and I are planning on driving to Central City on Friday to see the show if anyone wants to tag along. We will take Highway 6 from Golden to Central City as this is one of their suggested routes.

Saturday Aug 1st is the Super Cruise in Golden that we have discussed. We will be leaving the Springs around 11am. I thought we could meet in Denver around noon at Carribou Coffee, take the drive to Golden, the Lariat Trail to Buffalo Bills Grave then on to Mt Evans, the highest paved road in the U.S. This should give us some good twisties. Then we will move back to Golden for a late lunch and get ready for the cruise around 5pm. We will be there until around 8pm

How does all of this sound? Any suggestions?

Leslie and I will be in Golden with our DeLorean for the Orphan Car Show on July 26. Don't know if I can swing another trip down there to join up with Crossfires, but will see what we can do. If we can make it, I'll do a pm to Blackberry for any updates on where and when to meet.

Thanks for responding, we will keep our fingers crossed and hope you two make it. I have a friend with a porsche that can't make the drive but is going to meet us for dinner or just the cruise.

I hope others are still looking at this weekend to see if they can make it. It is never to late to come along.

I will actually already be in Golden during that time frame for my work - having our annual meeting. Not sure yet how long I will be tied up with that on Saturday (will find out beginning of next week). Will post up if it looks like I'll be out in time for the drive (I hope so, had a blast last time and now I have the good tires on - wheee!).

If not for the drive then meet us for the cruise and dinner around 4:30pm. If you don't have Evans cell I will give you mine and you can give us a call when you are available. I have a friend that is going to meet us for the cruise that has a red '99 Boxster.

I just put new rubber on the rear of mine also. The Conti's lasted 14,000 miles on the rear, Mary says it is the way I drive, I don't think so. The fronts have 25,000 on them with enough wear left to take me till next spring.

I do like the look of the Generals, now we will see how they hold up. They cost $491.00 installed at Discount Tire if anyone new was wondering. I did keep one of the old Conti's just in case I need a quick spare to get the car home,as it took almost a week to get these shipped in to Colorado.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it as my grandfather-in-law passed away and the funeral will be on Saturday.

Wow what a night, there must have been a thousnad hot rods of all shapes and sizes. This cruise was at least twice as large as the 4th of July cruise. You couldn't even find a parking place anywhere, King Soopers was completly full. We ended up at the High School off the main drag a little and hauled our chairs to one of the round abouts where we sat and watched all the cars go by. There was a group of chevy low riders that came around the round about and one raised up so that it went around with only three wheels on the ground. This was by far the best car show I have ever been to and it was free. UNBELIEVABLE!

I did see two other Crossfires, one a grey coupe with a female driver and the other a red roadster. Somehow we manage to pull up along side of him and blew our horn. The traffic finally worked out so he could get along side and he asked where we got the lighted wind restrictor. He said he was from Denver and this was his fiances car. I asked him if he was ever on the forum and he didn't know what I was talking about so I yelled over to check out Crossfireforum.org. and he would find all the information he would ever want. We got home about 11pm rode topless all the way, what a blast.
