I would like to put together a trip to upper Michigan if there is enough interest. I thought with so many people coming to the Dream Cruise the 3rd week of August, that might be a good time to head on up north. We could take off on Sunday and head up north. It takes about a 4 to 5 hour drive to get to the bridge. We could take one day and take the ferry to Mackinaw Island, also there is the tunnel of tree's that is a beautiful drive along Lake Michigan. Some great towns to visit along the way...Petoskey, Charlevoix...if there is any interest in doing this I would like to start a list and would like some volunteers to help with the plans ...Msgump (judi)

I could combine this with going up to see friends and family ... hmmmm ... that would be a nice time of year to be in Michigan.

Thinking about it. My family used to vacation near Onaway and Curtis (in the U.P.) in the 70's. I haven't seen the bridge since the late 80's.

 

I'm interested, but not able to help with much of the planning. But, personally, we could just take off and go and come what may.

I like the idea of just taking off and have an adventure.....we still could plan of doing the tunnel of tree's and some special sites....so far looks like maybe 4 of us interested in doing this...maybe some other will jump on it later....stay tuned...

 

Peggy & I and Mike & Barb went up last year for the 4th of July, had a great time and saw some fantastic fireworks. It is a really nice getaway. Might be interested in heading up there again, but will need to see how this summer plays out.

 

Ms. Gump: What exactly are the dates and its correlation with Carlisle. I will need to book this time out ASAP, so if you could give me the dates, I'll see if I can swiing this.

I didn't realize you don't do the Cruise.....the dates are sunday August 22nd....we would leave Auburn Hills and head up to Mackinaw....have no figured out how many days we should plan on or where to stay yet....just get some responses about it so I like your idea of just winging it and doing what folks want...there is so much to see and do....the tunnel of tree's is great and beautiful....the bridge and/or going to the island....give me your ideas and what you would like to plan....can you manage to make the Cruise if you are coming this way???

 

That is great....if we only have a few cars it will be easy to just wing it don't you think....I don't know where exactly everyone would like to go....do you have any ideas of what you would like to do...how many days can you plan on??

 

Heck yeah,,,,,I need help....not sure what everyone wants to do but just starting to get some responses and I asked Gary to start a thread for the Mackinaw cruise....unless this is already considered a thread...I'm not too up on this website...LOL Are you doing the Dragon?

has anybody experienced their XF on a ferry? We took ours over to Kelly's Island last year and she did not like the ferry at all. 1st we locked the doors and walked to the side of the boat to watch the waves go by, and she called us back screeming for us. We tried leaving her unlocked, but she locked her self up each time we walked away and started screeming as if she was saying "I don't like this". We had to sit in the her with the key in the ignition. We had the top down, so we sat on the tops of the seats and got a good view.

 

That is what the "tow" button is for. Janes did the same thing last year crossing the Ohio. I didn't lock mine and it was fine.
