Bought a 2004 Coupe a few months ago
Hello all, I'm new here and in Aurora, Illinois
I bought a 2004 Crossfire Coupe and I love it.
I have had it since mid April and have put about 3,000 miles on already.
Great ride.
My question is why does so much brake dust accumulate of the front rims??
Is this common?
What are some brake pads that will produce less brake dust ??

The dealer says it is.

Ah yes, the brake dust is very common (and annoying).
Do a search for some Rotex Gold brake pads - they will solve your 'front wheels turning black after 2-3 days' issue.

Welcome and good luck with the car, and yes change those pads to the Rotex Gold and no more dust. I just drove from the Chrysler Nationals in PA and home 225 miles and rims we're clean.
Welcome to our forum.
Rotex Gold pads are the way to go. As ACRISPY1 stated, I too rode back 240 miles from the Chrysler nationals and the rims were still very clean.
If you replace the pads, have the rotors resurfaced (cut) at the same time. This will eliminate any squeaking, premature pad wear and possible pulsations. As a former auto repair shop owner, I found that this was the only proper way of replacing brake pads with no complaints from customers along with longer pad life.

It's very common. And having to clean the wheels teaches us to better prepare to stop instead of slammin on the brakes at every corner. There are plenty of dust shields, etc for the front brakes but I wouldn't touch any of them. I suggest you "wax" your wheels...it makes it easier to rinse them off when you notice brake dust build up. Good luck and keep it clean.
Rotex Gold...99% dust free + Wax, you can't go wrong.

Well I have certainly learned a lot about my car since that day last summer.
By the way I did get the Rotex Golds within a week of your responses here last year
I have met a lot of really great people over the past year at the Crossfire meets and put another 13000 miles on my Crossfire.
As my post count shows I love this place.
Thanks to all who post and make it such a great forum !!
