Stuck in a Crossfire :)
Hello everyone!
I've been looking into the Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 Coupe recently as my second car. Currently, I drive a Jaguar XJR @ 450HP, but I'd like something more compact and unique. The Crossfire seems like a luxury go-kart from hell! I am from So Cal so tire grip in snow, etc. don't matter. I don't want a roadster because of the possible reliability issues with the top and the difficulty of track racing with a vert.
I have a couple questions, I tried searching but I wanted to ask again.
1. How is reliability and repair cost now that the warranty period is up?
2. How harsh is the ride? Can you use it as a daily driver/road trip car? I'm used to the silky smooth Jag ride
3. Where can you get it serviced?
4. How is part availability?
5. Was navigation available?
6. How is insurance? I'm not paying too much for the Jag as a 16/17 year old, how different is the XF.
7. How much do you love your car 1-10?
Thanks a ton!

2. How harsh is the ride? Can you use it as a daily driver/road trip car? I'm used to the silky smooth Jag ride. It's firm but comfortable in the N/A's. The SRT has even stiffer suspension but they also have a lot more ponies!!
3. Where can you get it serviced? Hence one of the main issues. Chrysler certified dealers with Crossfire certified mechanics.......but you'll pay alot and also no guarantees how good they know the car because these are pretty rare by most standards. Some mercedes dealers that don't have their nose in the air may work on them. Some private mercedes mechanics will work on them. It's best however if you can do some of the more simple things yourself. Changing the oil is really easy and you can save a ton of money doing it yourself, especially with an oil evacuator. The filter is on the front top of the engine, so it's super easy.
4. How is part availability? Most parts are mercedes parts so even if you don't find them easily under the Crossfire name you can usually find them under merceds name but make sure they are fully compatible. Other than that, ebay, chrysler, on the forum here, etc. If you look, so far you can find them.
5. Was navigation available? Nav was / is available. People who have it either love it or don't use it. In my view, it's pretty draconian in terms of technology and there aren't any updates available for it anymore. However, who cares. Buy a garmin --- they are better, cheaper, and can be updated!!
6. How is insurance? I'm not paying too much for the Jag as a 16/17 year old, how different is the XF. Insurance isn't bad for me. About what I pay for my other car.
7. How much do you love your car 1-10? I'd say I'm in the range of 10 to 12. Fun to drive. Rare. Classic looks. Solidly built. Great group of owners. I'm not big into modifying either but have done some -- like eurocharging. Adds more ponies to increase the fun factor.
Good luck.
It seems to me that many of the problems affect starting the car, is this true? I need something that will start right up 99% of the time.
In regards to the OEM navigation, I like the stock look more than anything else out there, the aesthetics of it.
Was there ever an option for automatic climate control? Or does everyone get the *****?

I married her 37 years ago .......
I apologize if I mislead you. The answer is NO, there is/was no option for digital climate control. I have that in my Concorde Limited, so am familiar with it..
