Default New from Texas

Hey everyone, I'm from The Woodlands Texas and recently received a 2005 base model 6 speed. I work at a mechanic shop and replaced the clutch and water pump on the car and the owner never came back. Since I worked on it the owner of the shop offered it to me instead of paying me flag hours and allowed me to file all paperwork to receive a clear title. Hoping I can learn more about the Crossfire as they are becoming harder to find.

That's a really good looking ride - hard to believe someone just walked away from it. How does that work? How long does the shop have to store it and what contact attempts have to be made before you can go get a clean title for it? Hope it all works out for you

Repair bill was $1600 and some change. In TX the work order has to be signed and completed for 30 days after that you contact your tax office ,send certified letters to registered owner and/or lien holder and the state will send theirs after 31 days from the state letters if they don't pay the state issues you the forms to get a title to sell . since I kept it I paid taxes on the work order amount and received new plates registration and title.

I think you got the best deal on a Crossfire I've ever seen. Congrats! Does your shop regularly work on Crossfires for customers? People here are always looking for good mechanics.

My boss does not like European cars that much cause they are a different breed and require specific tools and star programing. . We managed to take it in cause there wasn't any programing or tedious work .I can help out with peoples questions about repairs as much as possible but this car is new to me and the first time I've worked on one. I feel lucky and blessed to have it and now looking to widen out my mechanical abilities and now buy more tools and scanner

I work off of the beltway and 59n. The shop is always tied up with fleet services along with other things. I do some minor side work out of my home as long as its not conflicting with work and have several close friends who do all out modifications and body work.

Congrats on your acquisition.. if you end up doing much mechanical work on it, you'll be well on your way to being a Mercedes specialist!
