UK member considering my first Crossfire!
Hey guys, great forum. I'm currently working my way through it!
Long story short, I was going down the z4 route but I've fallen in love with the crossfire now.
I'm in the UK and I'm wondering about day to parts for these cars. I've got experience with mercedes as well as knowing a lot of independent dealers and repair specialists. I have also owned a Mercedes with this same 3.2 lump
My question is, is locating and fixing engine parts as simple as buying the Mercedes slk equivalent? Or did they make major modifications?
Also things like pads, discs, filters, shocks, springs etc are they all say and thus can be fitted??
Many thanks!
James

Not really qualified to answer this as I've had the car only 4 months, but my understanding is that the running/stopping gear is Mercedes. The body and interior are more Chrysler unique.
Maybe the folks on here who have taught me so much about the car will chime in.

Hi James, if you speak "Mercedes" with a Karmann accent, You will get along fine with a Crossfire.
Even if you don't, there are plenty here that do.
Mechanical parts are the least of your worries, body parts are the biggest problem. But look on the bright side, that's what they make salvage yards for.

Hi James,
Crossfire owner in the UK here.
Had it about a month and a half. Done some light work on it, cleaned the valves, just did the alternator belt this weekend, given it a good service.
I've found no problems getting parts listed as either the merc or crossfire, just need to do your research first.
I've also found ECP are exceptionally good. They stock everything needed. If you do an ECP search you'll see that the xfire and equivalent merc has the same items showing in searches in regards to pads/disks/service parts etc.
ECP dont stock the coolant though, you need to get that online and then mix with battery water from halfrauds. ECP however do the correct oil.

Re: UK member considering my first Crossfire!
Are you looking for a performance car or cruiser? I have owned my Black NA Convertible for 2 years this coming July. The car is definitely unique with few around me but that being said I find the car severely underpowered, severely lacking in tech (usb/Bluetooth/etc), extremely uncomfortable seats (no lumber for example) I am 5'8" and 160lbs but have yet to find a comfortable seat position. If you are set on a Crossfire only buy the SRT Model if you want any type of performance. I have debated selling the car twice but still own it. In Canada our usable time is limited with the car on average spending 7 months of the year in storage and I don't drive it in the rain. Good Luck in your search, oh and a lot of Chrysler Dealers have never worked on one. I won't let them touch mine.
