Hi all,
New Xfire owner, Ocala, Fl area. Black, SRT, Coupe, all stock I suppose. Seats both just quit working yesterday and today I have a check engine light...welcome to our world huh?...lol . Secondary air injector pump code is what the light is all about. I detailed under the nasty hood and did remove the harness box cover next to the battery to wipe the grime off. Someone didn't take care of it properly and let it go 13,000 miles out of service as well. Needs A and B, at a minimum. I'll start with oil/filter then tranny service then rear end service, then plugs. I already changed the black air cleaner... sad. I will probably look for a Roadster to go with the Coupe as I have the room in the garage for both. This all started with a test drive in Maitland of an SLK350 which I didn't really like. Peace'yall

Hi there, I'm Chuk over in Winter Park, FL. We have a very large group of owners in the Florida Crossfire Group and can probably assist you in finding that next roadster and with the problems you're encountering. You can find out about any events and gatherings here in the Southeast Region sub-forum found down on the main page of on Facebook by joining the group (if you happen to have a FB acct). Hope to meet you soon!

Hey Chuck,
Sorry it took so long to reply, I am not a Fasebook member so those pages are unavailable to me. I do look forward to learning more about that local group. I bought a Limited Roadster in Maitland last weekend so now I have the srt coupe, black and the roadster silver/blue both 05's. Since I have been regularly driving both for the last week now, I see a big difference in the suspension from one to the other in the way they handle bumps and curves. The roadster non srt seems to ride a little higher and has a softer suspension as compared to the SRT coupe. Is this normal? I have been told that the SRT needs 4 shocks...not sure how the "tech" determined that. I do know that he serviced the tranny and left a zip tie in a hole and created a leak of fluid all over my white concrete driveway. I hope after he discovered his mistake, he replaced the gasket again instead of using the pinched one. This sorry mechanic work was done at Bill Bryan in Fruitland Park. I was really hoping for better work than that , being that it was their first time on my xfire and I have 2 to keep up now. The SRT coupe has 130, 000 and the limited roadster has 37,000. I lived in Winter Park for a long time, long ago...I know it well. Does the florida group have a website other than the fasebk page? I look forward to hearin from you....peace

We don't have a dedicated webpage unfortunately. We generally post any get togethers on here in the regional "Southeast" sub-forum. There is a member near you that drives a black coupe and is very active in the group. If you send me a private message we can exchange information.

I have heard of this srt black coupe, the parts guy mentioned him, I don't think I have seen it running around yet. I saw a white roadster Friday with nice black pinstriping on it and an even nicer blonde driving it p .. I am climbing this Crossfire learning curve as fast as I can. Replaced 2 worn out tires on the roadster today with a pair of Goodyear Eagle W rated. Seems that the previous owner had tires shipped to MB in Mtlnd. and they didn't follow the directional arrows on the rear and they wore out prematurely. I was greeted yesterday in my srt coupe with a check engine light again after not seeing it since we burnished the relay points on the RCM. I am hoping to look up the thread where one of our forum members renews the RCM. I can ship it off and wait for it. I am taking it up to Ocala >>Grumpy's Garage-(dotcom)< to have my lifelong friend take care of the radiator flush and the rear differential lubricant replaced along with new motor mounts and a new transmission mount. Then we will go over the brakes and address the valve cover oil leak. I think there is a bearing beginning to howl a little bit. She should be in much better shape then.

Alan, aschrager on here, drives an 04 black coupe (not an SRT-6) and he's always around there if not on his golf cart.

Have a black '07 manual coupe in SouthWest Orllando with a modified interior. Seems to be quite a few around here.

Villages is becoming a metropolis - about 17 miles on 27/441 and clear over to 301 on the west.

I picked up the 05 roadster a couple of weeks ago, non srt type. I am awaiting the extended warranty transfer that will carry it under full (supposedly) warranty until June 2016. I noticed paint overspray (roadster) at the rubber gasket on both sides of the car where the window closes at the door/body juncture. Were they this sloppily painted? or This is evidence of a repainted car? I am noticing that the roadster wanders on the road and doesn't seem to track as well as the srt coupe, and I know the shocks front and rear are bad on the srt, but it tracks the road nicer than the 39000mi roadster. I am wondering if it could be a worn steering stabilizer of some sort. I am spending a lot of time reading the common problems area and DIY projects. I am tempted to do the RCM resoldering procedure soon on the srt coupe. Peace....Oh...just to clarify things, I am "close" to the Villages, not actually in them...

That sounds like a lot more miles than 39,000. Did you check the service history at Chrysler or Carfax ? It may have had a violent life.

Carfax was clean, not that means anything. If the car had been a lease car, like Hertz or Avis or National, they're self insured and therefore carfax will not get the report if its been wrecked. I saw on one of the dealer service reports where the previous owner had taken the roadster in and the walk-around check off damage area had been torn from the corner of my copy. So I called the dealer that did that repair, ...this is after I bought the car of course, and asked them to pull the original top sheet showing damage, and asked her if there were any damage remarks in the walk-around report. She said yes, front end nose and front left fender. It didn't take long to determine that I had been a bit deceived as to the condition of the car before I bought it. The repair work is nice, lines seem to fit, the driver door drags a little. The mileage correlates to the dates on the invoices, so I don't suspect anything is amiss. The front end needs to be revisited and as soon as the warranty papers go through, I'll have a MB dealer look at it.

I agree with you regarding carfax. I had three cars with perfect carfaxes which I discovered had been worked on. I also had another which the ebay service listed as having been damaged during my ownereship when it had not.

Your car was likely rearended. That would explain paint going up both rear sides. You might pull up some carpet, check in wheel wells, in the truck and other out of the way places for evidence of work. Check you have the right stickers in the right place, bolt, nuts and washers of similar age and condition and other small things. Maybe it was as minor as being keyed or the paint getting some other damage.

I take it this did not come from someone on this site but rather a dealer. The good of that is your state might offer some protection in that case if you want to undo the deal.

Well I sold the Vanguard CitiCar years ago but it sounds like there are some other activities worth checking into.

I need to get back to my home state.

The Roadster, btw, I finally figured out what SSB was, and not single sideband ...lol, was sold to me by a private individual and not a lot and he said he had painted one side of it because it had been keyed. I am not a professional at determining if it had been painted both sides or not. I did find out today that the warranty papers had been transferred over into my name which was good news. I truly would like to thank EVERYONE who has contributed to this fine repository of information on our cars. I will probably attempt the RCM resolder repair on the SRT coupe this evening. I went to a junk yard in Wildwood , Fl where there was a cannibalized black 04 coupe limited and found the module, took it up to the counter. After he looked on ebay or wherever he looked for 15 minutes he asked for 80 bucks. I thought 80 bucks for a used part is too much, so I left it with him. Is that the going rate, did I make a mistake? There are 2 Crossfires in a boneyard in Apopka,Fl, can't remember types, non SRT I am sure, but no RCM.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I continue to learn about my xfires, learned that the tire pressure monitor is actually not faulty all the time just this morning. I must have a tire with a slow leak on the srt6. I learned that the clips that hold own the plastic engine cover are NOT available at the MB dealer without buying the whole cover, however they had the perfect AMG polished auminum coffee mug that is slim and fits the cupholder nicely. An AMG license plate frame I just couldn't pass up as well...lol. I should have grabbed the clips in the junkyard where I saw some cross-fires ..doooh! My rear wheel bearing noise seems to be subsiding rather than increasing in the srt. I will hold off on this nenewal for now. Two new bearings for each xfire on the shelf for now. As far as a violent history on the SSB roadster is concerned, the technician at the Chrysler dealership whom I felt was very knowledgeable and from the old school, said as we looked together while it was up on the lift that he didnt see any damage from an accident that the alignment issue with the front end could have come from hitting a curb or major pothole. He brought it back to spec and was happy with his work, he test drove it 3 times..made adjustments between derives. He did not install the new stabilizer I had but I will install it soon. It drives much better and no longer wanders in the roadway . Now my only dilema is .....wait for it.........,.....,........WHICH ONE TO DRIVE UP TO THE DRAGON...thinking bout going..😁 ...peace..
