Default Key turns but door lock doesn’t move

The car has been stored for quite awhile, and the battery is dead. The fobs won’t work, and when we used the key to unlock the door, it turned, but it didn’t unlock the door, so now locked out with a dead battery. Any ideas???

There was a write-up on here somewhere about releasing the hood so you could charge/replace the battery.
