Default Got one!

Hi

After much searching, I have finally bagged a Crossfire. Its a black 2006 manual with 52k, very nice condition. I am very pleased!! apart from few niggling issues.
I noticed that when driving through the gears its a bit jerky, especially from 2nd to 3rd. You have to really concentrate to get a smooth change. Is this a common characteristic of the Crossfire?
I was considering changing the spark plugs. Its had a recent oil/filter and air filter service (checked and all seems new) but no history of the plugs ever being done. I pulled out one of them and although not bad condition, they had the Mercedes badge on them so guessing they may be originals.
Probably do them next weekend, weather permitting.
In addition, After having the car home for 4 days, the alarm starting to sound at random times. Initially, I would unlock car with fob and it would be fine until the following day. It then became more frequent unit a few nights ago at 3am it kept going off regularly until I had to finally disconnected car battery. (not much fun with a torch and dressing gown!)
I have read a little online about similar issues, I have oiled the door/bonnet and boot latches. I have changed the fob battery and today I fitted a new car battery (although old one seemed to have loads of power still).
Got home and the bloody alarm was still going off. I would lock car, come in and within 20mins the thing would sound. After unlocking car with fob, it would then go off again within 5-10mins.
I finally removed plastic cowling and removed siren altogether.
I am now concerned that the lights will still flash and run battery down (Keep looking outside and nothing yet).
Does anyone know if the alarms normally keeps sounding until switched off or does it switch itself off after a while, thus saving the battery.
Note: I did speak with the previous owner (bought privately) who promises that it wasn't happening to him. I tend to believe him as I had car for 4 days before it became an issue and I know for a fact it was parked outside his house for past few months. The pinch bolts on terminal were rusted in place so I know nobody had disconnected battery (obviously all clean and greased now).
I will update over next few days and let you know what happens. Unless I can get a cheap replacement, I am happy not to have an alarm fitted. It locks and unlocks with fob fine.

Thanks

D5UTY

Cars fine, without the siren. Common problem. No the lights won't flash, like the alarm sounded off. Glad to hear you've taken care of the maintenance issues. Maybe, on the plugs, can't see anyone buying Mercedes replacements but stranger things have happened. Enjoy the car an Enjoy the (s)miles.

Thanks Steve Jr for quick reply and the peace of mind. Have to say I love the car. I was looking for ages for a nice one as I want to keep her for a long time. These machines are a bit of a well kept secret and I think maybe a future classic.
Look forward to some future events next year!
