New to the car, new to the forum, loving both
Just wanted to say Hi. Picked up a 2005 SSB coupe with 53K miles a couple of months ago and loving it so far. Had to drive almost 3 hours out of town to pick it up, but got it for a fair price.
Unfortunately I have to be the first to start driving this machine in the winter. So far I got myself a set of SLK 320 16" rims for the winter tires and installed a Pioneer head unit (DEH-X8800BHS - sounds awesome with the stock amp and speakers). This forum has helped immensely with the HU install. I wired each of the four channels directly to the deck, and now I was able to detect the rear subs are blown. One doesn't work at all and the other buzzes badly at certain frequencies. So I've ordered the Pyle subwoofers that require minimal modification and are fairly cheap (even here in Canada). So thanks again to the forum for that information.
The previous owner recently changed the CPS, which appears to be a common problem. I suppose I'll have to look into the electronic module and I'd like to change the spark plugs as well, both of which will have to wait till spring.
I've wanted this car for a really long time - I fell in love with it the first time I saw it 10 years ago. It finally became affordable at a time when I was looking for a car, so I'm happy to own one now, as impractical as it is.
My last car was a Volvo s60 T5, a car that was more powerful, faster, more fuel efficient, more spacious, and way more practical than this. I'll always miss that car and remember it as one of the best I've ever had, but the Crossfire is stunningly beautiful and fun to drive. And that somehow makes up for all its shortcomings. Thanks for all the help so far and I'm looking forward to being a member of the Crossfire club for a while.
