'04 crossfire with 26k problem.
My mother in law bough a crossfire and loves the car. The other day she drove to a store went in and came out and the car would just start and die. Twice this happened till no crank. Unhook battery and it will do the same sequence. Keyless entry works.... The dealler is trying to tell me that the pcm is corrupt and needs to be replaced along with the skreem and skim moduel and keeys to the tune of 5k. I'm having a hard time believing this is the necessary repair. Also limited mechanics with any knowledge of these cars up here in montana. Any help would be great

Re: 04 crossfire with 26k problem.
It really does sound like a skreem issue, but 5K is a bit pricey.
From Rob at needswings the cost for a pre-programmed SKREEM is $700 ( 14% of the dealer price ) |
Re: 04 crossfire with 26k problem.
See my sigline. I will let you off easily this one time. :)
And I would replace the car's battery and make DAMN SURE the battery posts and cables are clean and tight BEFORE changing the SKREEM. I'd also do James' mod in this thread first as well: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...le-engine.html |
Re: 04 crossfire with 26k problem.
They are saying that there is a PCM problem and they want to replace the PCM the skreem module and the skim module along with the keys

Re: 04 crossfire with 26k problem.
They dealer really don't know, so if they replace everything, they have it covered. Listen to these guys here, they will set you straight and save you a lot of money.

Re: 04 crossfire with 26k problem.
so my research is pointing to the skreem module is that what you guys think is wrong. I just want to make sure I am saving the most money I can. Also is a used module reprogramable to a different car. I have a complete parts car. Runs but was rear-ended

Re: 04 crossfire with 26k problem.
Check with Josh Chase, he has stated that he can clone a failed module to a good one.
( he removes the eeprom chip I think ) He charges around $325 |

Re: '04 crossfire with 26k problem.
The dealler is telling me that there is a tsb or bulletin thatthe PCM could have a malfunction and that's why they need to replace the whole system. Montana is not the place to brake down with one of these cars. No one knows how to work on em. I am thinking it's the skreem module. Is there anyone I could talk to over the phone and see if they can help. ??? Anyone input is greatly appreciated

The simplest way is to replace the SKREEM module, saves time on all the other work, it is not the cheapest though. Forget the tsb/bulletin and the PCM tale. |
