I have no memory of this place ...
Apparently I signed up here back in 2014 when I bought my Crossfire but never posted. I sold that one pretty quickly after buying it for my 650i, but I've always missed it. I think we're about to hit the time period where these things start blowing up and I want another one.
So I'm back to soak up as much information as I can before picking one up and doing an M113 swap (will an M113K fit under the hood?) because I love the absurdity of it. My sons have also never done an engine swap and I think this is one of the least expensive paths to walk them through that experience. I've done quite a few in older cars so I'm looking forward to learning more about the ECU / TCU tunes.
I love these older communities that still exist and I'm excited to see this one is still active.

Good info here and for tune info contact Josh Chase at the Mercedes Swap Shop (MSS).

Cheers.
I just found
here from MSS and am starting my journey. So far I haven't had any luck finding a Crossfire with a shot motor as the project car, but I'm on the lookout.
I just found
Greg, you will quickly find that you will have to be VERY aggressive when hunting for one of these Crossfires.
I started looking in February 2022, and had AT LEAST 10 cars sold out from under me when I was dealing on them. There are dealers asking THREE TIMES the current KBB value on the cars, and having no problem selling them.
When I complained to one dealer that he was asking way over double KBB value for the car, he said he had sold 35 of them over the last year, had no problem selling them, and didn't need any advice from me.
I finally found one at a dealer in Iowa, that had low miles and had been a pet car, so was in beautiful shape. But I wasted no time in grabbing it, as the price was only moderate, and I was lucky to get that one. I had 8 cars on my list when I went to pick up the one I finally bought, and when I got home, I checked and ALL of the 8 cars had been sold while I was on my 4 day trip to get the car I finally purchased.
These cars have already blown up in popularity. One couple I talked to who were selling their Crossfire privately, had 15 people lined up for it, and were just waiting to see who came up with the highest bid before they decided who to sell it to.
If you go to "Auto Trader" and find a dealer named "TREADWAY", their starting price is nearly 3 times the KBB price.
