Default Hello Crossfire lovers!

This is my first post so please be gentle.
I joined the forum because I thought it was UK based but all threads seem to be USA based?
I myself am from the Durham area of UK. The car I have bought is a 2005 roadster. It's main problem is the lack of central locking, which works from the button indide but not from the key.
I can live with it the way it is, so it's not too much of a problem.
I do have a query though, I was wondering what this little box on top of the dash was for?
Cheers in advance and nice to meet you all.

First and foremost welcome to the Forum. That little box on top of the dash is NOT original equipment. Hopefully someone will recognize it's use and can identify it. The L M R indicators must be for some use?

Congratulations on purchasing the Crossfire Roadster...
This forum was started back in 2003 by an individual in anticipation of the launching of the first Crossfire for the model year 2004. When you go to the front page of this forum, scroll down to the area you are from and click on the European section and scroll down to the UK subsection and click on it. This will bring you to the UK member section that you can communicate with in the future or stay with the main page.

As to the "the little box", I can tell you it is not standard equipment from the Karmann factory. A prior owner installed it, for some unknown reason. Try to contact the seller to determine what this device provides in the operation of this Crossfire. Any type of aftermarket wiring could alter/affect the electrical system in your Crossfire.
I'm sure others will contribute answers to your locking issues.
Good Luck....

It comes straight out of the James Bond Aston Martin, 1956 coupe.

It was originally used to adjust the turrets of the headlight machine guns remotely.

Voice activated. (Careful)

Based on 'curb rash' on some wheels, this should be in all cars!
