Cool Re: New Member from South Africa

Always loved the look of the XF, wanted one for quite a while, I have 2016 Mustang Ecoboost, which is a great car and my daily driver, so to stop me fiddling with the mustang, I have been looking for something to "play" and fiddle a bit, I saw the 04 coming up on auction, I paid R80 000, just over 4k USD at today's exchange rate for it, it comes with a quite a clean roadworthy report / certificate ( probably a MOT in the UK), not sure if they do something like that in USA, I have not collected the car yet, it is about 4 hours drive away, will fly on Friday to collect it, and then drive home, along some of the best roads and mountain passes South Africa has to offer. I will try to document the mini roadtrip with photo's. at this stage this is the only photo I have from the dealer / auction house.

Very nice and congratulations on your purchase. Looking forward to your road trip. I have a co-worker from South Africa and he will be able to give me context of your journey once you post.

Ok I got back yesterday from fetching the car, damn dealers are slimy, wait let me start with the important stuff, the car gave zero hassles, was awesome drive back, the body work is in brilliant condition, make me worry that the car was in an accident.
Here is the list of stuffs that will require some attention:
Airbag light - Obviously priority would be to get scantool to see if there are other errors hidden away
Dreaded Headliner droop
Steering feels very disconnected and vague, what I have read on the forum is that it could possibly be the steering damper, would need to investigate.
Driver seat adjustment controls, a bit of over eager usage obviously broke the switches
Driver side pull handle has been repaired quite horribly, not sure what to do here, been scouring ebay some available.
Bonnet / Hood support is totally gone, replacement will need to be ordered, or get it rebuild if possible
Need tyres all way around
No parcel shelf
Obviously the cup holder is broken beyond dreams
The plastic shelf behind the driver and passenger has got a lot of cracks, maybe I can get it plastic welded, been also scouring for one, seems very rare

It seems it is mainly interior cosmetics, which indirectly I am quite happy with, because it does reflect the true kilometers of the car, O yes, so driving back I start to play with the stereo, and notice the balance is completely to the right, putting balance to the centre, immediately highlighted why it was set like that, the left speaker just give static / coarse bass basiaclly it is quite stuffed

Maybe I should start a new thread with the journey
