This may be an old question already answered, but I'm wondering why Ohio is linked with Northeast rather than Midwest? I was raised in Hawaii, moved to California in the Navy, and finally relocated to the Midwest with a company in Ohio. I'd always been taught that Ohio was a Midwest state, and every other association of states places Ohio with Midwest.

So...why Northeast...a club usually reserved for the original colonies located north of the Mason-Dixon line?

This is a funny question for me. I was raised in NYC/LI and from our view, Ohio was considered the mid west. My wife, raised in Cincinnati, always gets irked when I say Ohio's in the Midwest..."it's in the east you knucklehead! she says.

So I guess it's a matter of perspective and it's the fault of our sports leagues that we say Ohio (west and central division teams) is in the mid west. Still an issue in my house...I just don't bring it up anymore...shhh, she's coming in the room...gotta go!

 

It's gotta be because the only State north of Ohio is Michigan and it's only a small area. The rest is Lake Erie all the way to Canada. Mid-West would be a bit of a stretch IMO. ...

 

I always thought OHIO should have been called a Middle Eastern State, but don't tell Pres. Bush. He'll call up some more reserves and invade.

 

ROFL...The folks in the US middle east are saying "WTF!" LOL.

 

I live in Cincinnati are and we are on "Eastern" Time zone. I think of mid west as Central Time zone!
