Default Woodward Dream Cruise

I'm planning on attending the Woodward Dream cruise in august. Will be leaving from No. Virginia around noon on Friday August 17th - well that's the plan for now. I wanted to know if anyone one from the area is planning on attending and if we can possibly make the drive together. I spoke with Imafink this Sunday and he says he's interested. Please let me know anyone form mid Atlantic states and NE, who may converge through Cleveland want to hook up for the run to Detroit on that Friday. We can adjust schedules as necessary.

I'm leaving the Amherst, OH area Saturday morning. The Ohio Tpk. (I-80) goes right thru my area. Exits at Rt.57 and Rt.58. Maybe we could meet for dinner or at the Rest Area on friday evening. I'm about 2.5 hours from Detroit so if you plan on staying overnight in the area, we could drive into Detroit in the AM. The drive from here in the morning is great!

Hi, new members here. We live 1 mile from the dream cruise. If you want any information about the areas we can try to help. It is a lot of fun ,although after the first couple of years the local police departments have really organized it well so that there is no drag racing and they empty Woodward at 9:00, if I remember. Be on the correct side of Woodward (east or west) when it shuts down to make your ride home/back much easier. The outside lane is for cars 20 years and older (or something like this) which puts Crossfires the next lanes over. It isn't a big deal either way. North bound on Woodward is a crawl, you could often walk faster than drive it in many of the sections. South bound moves pretty well so that if you loop around using a road that runs north south but is just west of Woodward you can avoid getting caught in the exhaust and endless jam. There is entertainment in the evenings, food and hotels on Woodward. If I came from out of town I'd really want to bring my bike which makes getting around so much easier. Maybe you could wrap one in bubble wrap and put it in the passenger seat for the ride up!

This sounds very interesting but I'd hate to drive for a most of a day, hang out for a day and then just drive back.

I'm not familiar with the area so ay suggestions would be greatly appreciated for things to do and places to go where it would be safe to park the car and not worry about dings.
