Just saw some good news in the local newspaper this evening. Apparently the deal to renovate the Burtonsville Shopping Center is nowhere near a done deal and as a result it looks like its business as usual Sunday mornings from 8:30 until.....
For those of you in the Md. DC and Northern Va area the cruise in is held at the intersection of Rt 29 and Rt 198 in the Burtonsville Shopping Center. Probably about 15 - 20 minutes North on Rt 29 after you get off the Beltway. They get a heavy turnout of Corvettes and Mini Coopers and there are a ton of Hot Rods, exotics etc. I'll be checking it out after Easter if it warms up a bit. I've attached a couple of pics so you can get an idea how large this event is. Hope to see some of you this spring and summer.

Thats great news Pat just let me know when you're going to be there and I'll be there and maybe we can get some of the other local xfire owners to go also.

 

If I'm not working I will definitely show up some time.

 

I'll be there in the a.m. 3/30 around 9:00 a.m. Can't guarantee anybody else will be there since I haven't been since November but its supposed to be sunny, I have my new wheels on and I'm going.

I was there last week. It was a little chilly, but there were more people there than the week that all 3 of us were there. My wife wanted to go, so we were both there as well. My car is in the shop for the dreaded heater-melted-the-seat issue, but I hope to have it back soon. It if it nice, I will be there as well.

 

From what I'm seeing its supposed to storm later in the day. So we will see what happens. I'm planning on being there. Look forward to seeing you guys.

Due to the forecast of rain, heavy rain on Sunday I'm gonna pass this week. I will be at Olney at some point this evening. Again the Olney Cruise starts at 5:30 and goes past dark. You can get there by taking Georgia Avenue North to Olney, Md turn right on Rt 108 and then make the second left at Spartan Drive then turn into the shopping center. The cruise in is behind the Chevy Chase Bank and KFC/TacoBell. If you are coming in from the East on 108, take a right on Spartan, left into the center.
Next Sunday looks like better weather according to accuweather.

Quick update on Olney. A few nice hot rods, a few Vettes and a very few other cars. I stayed maybe about 20 minutes. I'm guessing most people were at Mt. Airy. If its nice in the a.m. I'll check Burtonsville otherwise pass and hope for next week and better weather.

I got up, saw the wet and went back to bed.

 

I got there at about 9:00AM and stayed to about 9:40AM, only about 25 cars showed up. The 10 day forecast shows rain next weekend also.

 

I'll be there my first free weekend in June! Whenever that is... can't wait to get back up north

 

Sorry Pat - It was raining here so I too went back to bed. Next Sunday as of now says showers, hopefully that will wait til the afternoon. I'll wait and see what things look like on Saturday. Jason it will be good to see you. Unfortunately the last 3 weeks or so have been washouts. Problem is when there is a threat of rain the turnout sucks for obvious reasons. Sooner or later we'll get a nice one, lets hope they are wrong about this Sunday.
