9/13 Ride for Pride for Sept 11th...
]The 2008 Ride For Pride will be held on Saturday, September 13.
Special traffic note: When the cruise starts, the on-ramp to 495E/95N has ongoing construction. The merge area is short and narrow. Be alert and safe while merging. There will be plenty of time to get back in line once on the highway.
This event is held in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area...Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C.
2008 will mark the 7th year of the Ride For Pride. For those unfamiliar with this cruise, it's purpose is to remember all who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. It also holds the purpose of expressing our support and gratitude to all the men and women of this nation's armed forces, who right now are ensuring that we have the right, and the freedom, to conduct this event.
This event was conceived in 2002, by D. Charleton, and with the assistance of M. Gonzales and C. Pryce. The first Ride For Pride (RFP) had about 10 vehicles in attendance. The 2007 car count was 80, including members from FBodyHideout, Eastern FBody Association, LS1Tech, LS1, FirstStateFBody, HRFBody, LS1GTO, CCGTO, and others.
Here is last year's cruise video...

That is a great idea! The park is pretty nice, maybe we could get there early and BBQ up some lunch?

Re: 9/13 Ride for Pride for Sept 11th...
There is a Circuit City in Tysons on Route 7 (aka Leesburg Pike).
8520 C Leesburg Pike
Vienna, VA 22182
If you want to caravan to the park BBQ at the park before the event, this will be the meet up point.
There is a Starbucks on one side and a McDonald's on the other.
There is also an Exxon station VERY close in case you need gas.
Let's meet there around 10:00 and leave at 10:30 sharp.
I gave it alot of thought:

I gave it alot of thought:
- This is an easy place to find
- You can get food, gas, or ice,
- They have a big lot that rarely gets busy.

The RFP Leaves from the park at 2:00 , why are you getting togeter in Tysons and headding for thr park at 10:30? Oh I guess this is to leave enough time for a BBQ.
I was going to go out to the GTG in Leesburg and leave abut 12:00 to go to the GTG at the park for the 2:00 departure. Maybe I'll leave a bit earlier, and bring something to throw on the coals for us (we are vegetarians).
Anyway here is a google map location link for your meeting place:
http://maps.google.com/maps?num=100&...=15&iwloc=addr
Here is a route showing both the Leesburg GTG and the Cameron Run Park location
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=e...,0.837708&z=10
Google says that this route will take almost an hour and a half, I might be able to shave a few minute oss of that but I am taking this route to avoid Sat. shopping traffic. There may be other activities going on at that time.
BTW has anyone checked to see if the PNT north parking will be available?
See you all there =)
Re: 9/13 Ride for Pride for Sept 11th...
This is from another site:
Thank you for the updated info! This is really a grass roots event, maybe next year we can get a web site together with updates, etc?
It seems like some people have forgotten about 9/11. We need to keep this event growing and be sure we as a country do not let our guard down.
Hey Immo, thanks for keeping this going over here. I was the trail car last year in the Black TA with the red stripes that was doing the video. I love my Magnum too, but the event started with fbody's so I'll be driving my new Collector Edition Trans Am this year. We will have access to the memorial after we arrive at the Pentagon this year, and won't have to take the mile long march from the public parking area to do it since we'll be staged in the Pentagon South parking lot near the actual crash site. We'll have a Pentagon survivor participating again this year. He drives the Blue C6 vette that you can see in last years video. All the Mopars should bump us over 100 cars pretty easy this year!

Re: 9/13 Ride for Pride for Sept 11th...
Wow! What a great experience! I reccomend it to everyone next year. When people waved, and honked , and pulled over to watch us all pass - it was truly incredible, and then the Pentago police escorted all 88 cars (or at least most) over to the other side so that we could visit the memorial!
We took lots of pics, as soon as they are edited, I will post a link to them here.
