Default My New Ride - Actually a Truck

Hi All,

Haven't posted for a while...for that matter I've been missing in action. Hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's celebrations.

I'd spent the last month and a half trying to find a decent used Dodge Dakota and finally gave up. I bought a new 2007 Dakota a week and a half ago...my first truck, and also my first new vehicle since 1983.

I'd post pictures, but what's the point?? It's a truck. I gave up my 300m and kept my Crossfire Roadster. Lucky me...I have two vehicle payments.

Anyway, just dropping the news. This isn't a truck forum, but as a Crossfire owner I thought I could pass the news along. I only wish that my Crossfire had the satellite radio service that I have in the Dakota. And the Dakota has a 3.5mm AUX jack right in the front of the radio...where plugging in personal, portable music devices is a snap.

Hoping for a Crossfire get together in the spring...Harbor, Fuzz, where are you guys?? Get going on the itinerary.

Markr, most satellite radios have an "aux out" jack that should work with the jack in your new truck. I have a Delphi Roady 2 and a Roady XT (XM service) and both radios have the jack.

When you were shopping for used, was it on the internet or local dealers?

I do all of my car buying from the internet first, then I narrow down the selections to those that closely match my requirements...I found hundreds of Dakotas in my extended area, but just a handful of V8 4x4s, which I need to go get my sailboat that I left behind in California 12 years ago.

It seems that Dodge put out 50 or 60 V6s to each V8. And the people selling or turning in their V8 4X4s seemed to be trying to unload the problem before they got stranded somewhere. The best vehicle I looked at I drove 90 miles, had prearranged financing, and had a second driver...I was ready to come home with the prize. The seller forgot to mention that the tranny was slipping. When I asked him about it he wanted to give me lessons on how to nurse a truck with a slipping tranny. I was getting so desperate after another month of searching that I considered buying the thing and paying for a tranny job. Oh well. Now I have a brand new truck...but I bought the extended warranty anyway, and hope that I never have to use it.
