Nissan GT-R (long term)
Anyone else reading Motor Trend/Automobile and reading the long term Nissan GT-R review?
Less then praise. They are up to about 24,000 miles.
So far:
5 inspections
4 oil changes
Four Wheel alignment
Replace trans fluid, diff fluid, air filter, and coolant.
Total for above = $2865.75
Replace tires = $1650 per change (not including winter tire cost)
at 17,777 miles driveline vibrates - bad bearing in the bellhousing - cost to repair unknown but will take at about 2 weeks to repair.
at 21,950 miles "all kinds of rattles and vibrations coming from driveline"
at 22,872 miles brakes squeal is "unbearable". Cost to replace discs, pads, fluid, & labor $7346.00
That is almost $12,000 in wear and maintenance (not including the unknown cost to replace the driveline bearing) in 24,000 miles.
Drivers are also complaining about it being a very noisy car - "cant have a normal conversation at highway speeds, poor seat support.....
Not a rave review.
Great car on paper but with these kinds of problems and at those repair costs the GT-R just headed to be another garage queen.

I have raced a GT-R at the track a couple of times. His best was a 12.1 to my 12.2. He beat me, but not by much considering I could buy 4-5 SRTs for what he paid for his. LOL Ohhh..... and I beat him once by 3 tenths. He had a bad launch.

Yeah, they said a while ago, that the initial design wasn't very robust, but they have fixed some of the issues for next years. It's a nice car, I just don't like the interior.
