Default And they call this working...

Yesterday was kind of a crazy day here at work. Not only am I getting ready for Barrett-Jackson this weekend where I'll be doing demos all weekend long, but I had to be involved in a day long visit from AutoZone and do some presentations for them. Between presentations and demos for them I had to oversee a very special detailing session in our garage here at work.

You'd think a guy would be nervous working on a $3,000,000 car, but we weren't. A little excited perhaps, but not nervous. Yeah, this ain't no run of the mill Veyron, this is the Super Sport with every conceivable option - including the full carbon fiber body which alone is a $400,000 option!

If you're interested, I've got a full write up on this little project here

I can't even express how much I envy you. Was it hard to work all day with a boner for that car?

As if I wasn't already jealous of your job, Mike...

But here's what makes me smile: even a $3,000,000 car is not immune to swirls. Makes me feel better about my daily

Now, that there is funny!

Good for you Mike!

(Edit)

I was just thinking: what does it say about a mans' priorities when "What he Wants to be When He Grows Up" is a person who washes cars. And I'm speaking of myself.

With all due respect, this is far more than merely "washing" cars!!! But yeah, I know what you mean.

This was pretty special and although I didn't get to drive it like I have some other super cars (I'll NEVER forget the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano at SEMA a couple of years back), I did get to sit in it and start it up so we could raise the rear wing for cleaning under it.

I commented to the guys that certain commonalities exist between this car and the Crossfire - active rear wing, a raised spine running down the center of the hood and roof, center exiting exhaust...... 4 wheels, just 2 seats, a steering wheel... yeah, I was stretching it a bit at that point.

Consider that a set of tires on the Veyron Super Sport costs as much as the original sticker price on my '05 Limited Roadster and it sort of puts things into perspective.

My sentiments exactly.

...and Mike, please let us know if Jay Leno buys the car when you are down in Burbank showing it to a "potential customer" haha.

Well, I'm not showing it, the guys from Bugatti USA are. And the potential buyer, as far as I know, is not Leno. The potential buyer is in Beverly Hills, but the car is going to Jay Leno's Garage where Jay will do a piece on it. I will be at neither as I'll be doing demos all weekend at Barrett-Jackson here in Orange County, CA.

Forget being the detailer. I want to be the guy that drives in it and out of the garage!

Nice job Mike!

Doesn't it suck when work gets in the way of fun...though hanging out at Barrett-Jackson doesn't sounds like too bad of a way to spend a weekend.

Just thought I would post THIS since it was Mike and his team who made it shine. Pretty cool to see the same car a while later hanging out with Jay Leno.

Jason, maybe I am reading this incorrectly, but are you insinuating that these customers came into advance auto and let you drive their 100,000+ cars around because you worked there?

I am not trying to be a *****, but am I missing something? I just don't see an R8 or a lambo at advance auto, unless he is picking up detailing supplies or something...

That is exactly what I was thinking.
