Ford Mustang Generation 6
Looking pretty good for FORD with a four cylinder that possibly out performs the 6.

Edit: If had looked like the European concept I saw (I don't have a photo of it) I was thinking I would seriously consider trading the Crossy for it. Good thing it didn't.

Amazing comments from guys who drive a Crossfire. A retro design with similar lines on the roof and rear.
I'm just happy that they didn't go four door as rumored . And you have to admit, it still looks like a Mustang.

Well, there's the real problem with it Franc. It still looks like a Mustang.... If I wanted a Mustang, there are hundred styles of Mustangs to chose from...here a Stang there a Stang....
Well, I'm hardly a Mustang fan myself but they are popular.
The front looks a whole lot better than the Sebring we have on the nose of our babies.
That said,,,,,
Screw the styling if you want. I thought it interesting the projected 300 foot lbs of torque from a four banger purporting 305 HP.

Franc, 1 of the guys at work bought a new F150 eco boost 6. He put a 6" lift, big rims and tires...all black...beautiful truck. I walked over to take a look, and he offered her up to take a test drive. I was standing there not realizing it is running. He always had diesels before, turned up, black smoke blowing monsters... I got in, it was quiet, I was told it was a 6 cylinder, and I thought, no power to pull the wheels let alone the lift. Man, I fell in love with the truck, as it not only quiet, it is 1 hell of running truck right out of the box. I can't tell you how surprised I was. It is a twin turboed motor, and pulls this big truck down the road without a problem. Not been in a car with that motor, but in a Mustang, it would have to be a beast. Ford has a winner with the eco boost. So this 4 bang version doesn't surprise me. I like some Mustang styles and others I don't care for...
Begin a big Chevy fan I never cared for Rustands.
My choice for 4 banger would be the MB CLA45.
2.0 liter
355 hp
332 lb torque
Even put a deposit on one. Then figured for the price I could buy 3 more SRTs that are just a little slower.

DJ, I bought a E Class 350 4-matic for the wifey. I looked at the CLA, but after you add up all the options, you are back up in price, so I passed. That new Ford is hot, but I think that new MB motor in the right roadster would be tough as well. Hopefully your grille made it...
This just looks like a regurgitated/modified version of the current model. For a 50 year anniversary, I was expecting better. Chevy did much better with the retro Camaro.
At least Ford didn't wreck the Mustang like they did the retro T-Bird.
Some of my best friends drove Mustangs. Two of them had 70 Mach I's, (one still does) . I think the 70 fastback was the best Mustang design they ever had.
Personally I really like the new Mustang roofline. I'm sure they could run rings around my Crossfire too. But you know what, I don't care.
My 10 year old car will still be turning heads long after evertbody's forgot about this new Ford.
Isn't it cool we can still buy 12 and 13 sec cars if that's what we really want.

Mustangs come and go and so will this on. My father worked at Ford all his life. He had a 69 fastback. I have always loved the 68/69/70 fastback as it is a timeless classic. I think the Xfire falls in this timeless classic lines category. but this new one.... naaa not gonna happen!
I really think it look like a dog taking a big dump from the side , LOL
Really I think they drop the ball on this one , the last few years they have done really nice job with the looks , or maybe i:m just getting older and the young ones really like looking at dog crap , LOL
anyway I do know few out at work that are Rustang guys and they think same way I do , but I;m not real crazy about the new C7 Corvette after seeing it in person ,love the front and sides then you get to the back, and WOW ! , I want to like it but it just don't click for me ,it like they took 5 yrs to design the front and side and then they put in about 5 min of design on rear , maybe it just the old school in me
Takes me back to my first car. A 1980 Mustang Cobra with a 2.3 L Turbo. Quick car for a 4 banger. My brothers 1980 Z28 4 speed couldnt catch me. Except when I was being towed back to the dealer and this happened a lot.
My brother had a 75 Mustang II It spent a lot of time in the shop. I was surpised the brand survived that model period.
The generation 5 Stangs are admittedly well done. This is just a warmed over version of that concept. Unlike the Mustang II this looks like a Pony Mustang. No surprise there. Ford is staying true to the brand
Again, I'm looking at the power plants in combnation with the new lighter chassis. 300 foot lbs on a 2,700 lb car is gonna move.

EWE! Visions of the Mustang II years. No wonder.

2,700 lbs? The lightest 2014 weighs 3,500lbs. I'd say you are at least 500lbs out.
You think it will weigh less than the Crossfire?
The S 550 platform is lighter and supposedly Ford cut 400 to 700 lbs off the 2013 models. The 2013 (with the six) weighed in at 3350 lbs. ( I have one parked right here in the lot.)
I'm no aeronaughtical engineer, but the math should be the same. At worst it is 300 foot lbs of torque on a 2,950 lb chassis and my assumption about it being quick are valid.
The Crossfire was designed and built on a 1996 MB chassis. Compared to other vehicles,MB chassis are not known to be light. Almost 20 years later I think cars have gotten lighter. But perhaps that opinion is unfounded.
