As the title stated, I've got my eyes on the Cl600 V12 Twin Turbo. These ****'s trap 116MPH stock in the 1/4 and hit 124MPH with only a TCU/ECU tune ($1,400). That's a steal in my book.

Here's what Car and Driver had to say about one:

"The Benz surprised and impressed all of us. The CL600's 590 pound-feet of torque is a stunning 111 more than the Bentley's, and the Benz's 493 horsepower is just 58 behind the Bentley's."

"The Ferrari has a 16-percent-better power-to-weight ratio, yet the Benz equaled the Scag's 4.3-second 0-to-60-mph sprint. The CL's 2.4-second lunge from 30 to 50 mph is 0.1 second slower than the Ferrari's, and its 50-to-70 time is a half-second better. Punch the gas in this ***** and you're gone."

Stock thesed beasts advertised 493HP and 590TQ, and they produce more 100 HP and TQ over that once tuned.

I made an offer on this one tonight:

Here's a Youtube video of another CL600.

Fabulous car man. I see lots of potential in that thing.

Any aesthetic mods planned? If you want to look at paint correction and/or sealant options, let me know.

A friend of mine does Opti-Coat on vehicles, makes the paint look wet 24/7 and is hydrophobic. You'll need it with the black

Again, awesome machine. I will be expecting a ride in it

The irony is it sold new for around 130k, and its currently cheaper than the Crossfire.

Thanks John, but I'm not a big fan of black and intend to have it wrapped. You'll definitely get a ride and drive in it though.

I just spoke with Steve and he enlightened me on the current cost of wrapping a car. WOW! I think the black will grow on me.

You could have bought it and made 10 grand on it. What am I missing?

Couldn't care less about the gas mileage, as it won't be a daily driver. With that being said, it's definitely a thirsty beast.

I've seen those costs and they are certainly insane. If your paint is 10/10 already, then it may be worth the wrap to protect the paint...but if a car is 8/10 or less, then just drive it as is and pay roughly the same cost to have it repainted down the road.

Try more like 6-10. My E55 get's 9-13. 9 with brief pulls here and there. 13 if I pretend I'm my grandma. I only got 15 once, cruising at 70 on a flat straight part of 395 with 0 traffic.

Nice ride.

If you want something temporary for a non-daily that is unique you could dip the whole car. They make so many finishes and types now it is crazy. As long as it is prepped right and sprayed in a booth, you can get a few years out of a sub $500 project, much less than a wrap and when done, it comes off the same way.

I am spraying a whole car this weekend at my buddies body shop in anthracite and it should be sharp. The anthracite is a metallic gunmetal color and if you hit it with a few coats of the glossifier, it looks like a proper paint job when sprayed correctly.

Just my $0.02, its not for everyone (don't think I would do the XF, but I am considering it on the daily wagon)

what are the rear end upgrades available for these? That kind of torque I wouldn't think the stock differential would last long with too many good launches.

This is kinda "no **** obvious" Most of the cost of a new paint job is the pre/post labor. I used to strip my cars down, do all the pre-cleaning, sanding and body work, get it masked and sprayed by a pro and then do the color sanding and buffing myself (don't forget the guide coat). I would usually take the turn signals and rear lights off at the body shop so I could drive the car over and avoid the cost of a tow. So it's the cost of the paint and the spray. It's cheap but it takes a lot of work. My SRT6 is black. It is the first and last black car that I will ever own.

I looked into putting clear bra on my front fascia, hood, half the roof, rocker panels and the price quoted was around $3000. I painted my entire car for that price. A black car is AMAZING when swirl free. If you purchase the car, detail it and take care of it. You won't be sorry. I've read about some super expensive common repairs to the SL600. Do your homework.

Nope did not miss a 0 it went for $1,600. I watched go at a insurance auction car looked immaculate excepted a spot in front bumper that was pushed in. I contacted the auction center about the car and they told me the front bumper was all that was wrong with the car.
Anything older then 9 years goes for next to nothing since bank auto loans only go up to 10 years unless u want to pay double + the interest rate. So not many bidders. When I seen it I sent Meg's to a few ppl on forum who was thinking about shoehorning a v12 in there crossfire. Nothing better then a complete running car.
