the one with chev in it is because he didn't know how to work on or make a amc motor run. so that one is crap.
the second video was great, he also made a few un knowing commits
1 the shoulder harness/ seat belt was std. on all AMX's
2 the bigger radiator was std on all AMX's
3 NHRA set the hp on all 390 amc engines at 350 hp not the 315 as factory.
4 a complete restored 69 amx was just sold on Barrett Jackson for $61000.00 and a year ago a 1970 AMX for $75000.00

how do i know amx1397= amx the car,,,1 for the first amx off the production line,,, 397 as the (number) of AMX's that i have owned. jim

 

Mine was a 68 343 auto. The cars handled really well for the times and were quick. They would squat and go. No drama because of the torque links. (factory traction bars) Mine had the shoulder harness but I didn't know they all had them. The shoulder belt was a separate piece that had an eye on the end to slip over the lap belt tongue so you could use both belts or just the lap belt. Race inspired. Loved mine and would still have it if not for a 15 yr old girl with a learners permit. I drove it from Tennessee to the East coast and then to the West coast. Over 20 mpg on the highway. Loved it, really did.

Mine was purchased new and served as my daily driver for seven years. 1970. Ram air, factory side pipes, close ratio 4 speed, factory luggage rack,leather, no power anything, no air, vacuum wipers, Lime Gold Iridescent with black c stripes. My wife drove a 1968 with sport pack 343, auto, air. Gold with black rally stripes.

It took me all over the country with nary a complaint. Only an E-Type Jag succeeded in tempting me away.
