Have come across an '05 Merc SLK350 - retractable am thinking about asking $10k.
- does it have more legroom than a Crossfire ?
- any good technical forums, ones I've seen are long on questions and short on answers.
- what is this balance shaft issue and how to tell if a problem? One I am looking at has no record of major repairs and 80k miles.
Help from Those Who Know appreciated.

Have found out a lot more - the balance shaft issue in the 2004-2008 272 (3.5 V6) resulted in a class action suit that was successful and extended the warranty to 10 year/125,000 miles or paid $4000 for the repair.
If anyone is thinking about one of these cars make sure the balance shaft gear, balance shaft, and timing chain has been replaced per MB Order S-B-03.30/08.
Since am equipped to repair such is no big but would be looking at a much lower than KBB price.
Guess we should be happy to have cars of the same years but the previous engine.
