Had the Takata DS Airbag Recall completed on our VW Beetle Dune this past Monday. It's been nearly 4 years of ownership waiting on VW to say that a repair was available.

While the local VW Dealer was handling this recall, I told them to go ahead & do an oil & filter change, since it was due in January, 2024. Ended up costing me $140.50 (parts & labor). Things have certainly gone up!

So I went back in my records to look and found the following:
a) 2020 - $94.87
b) 2022 - $111.81 (17.86% increase)
c) 2023 - $140.50 (25.66% increase vs. 2022; 48.10% increase vs 2020)

I don't think I'm going to look at this in anymore detail because it makes me cry!

 

Here's the 2024 performance results for the 2016 VW Dune Beetle.

 

I got these VW Dune Beetle Wheels in Sandstorm Yellow installed on our 2016 VW Dune Beetle today. Wheels were only marketed & available in Europe. But to quote an Ocean Eleven movie "I know a guy"!

I saw this car at the Boonton, NJ car show on Sunday. I thought you might be interested in it.
It looks like a modified wagon.

 

There is a truck bed kit for rear engine VWs. I've seen a few up close at VW Car Shows. First time I've seen one on a VW Type 3 Fastback or Squareback.

Here's a VW conversion on a New Beetle at last year's VWs in the Valley (Maggie Valley, NC). Owner was trying to sell it.

Yeah that Dune Beetle is a fellow enthusiast I know. He drives a convertible & mine is a coupe or hatchback. He actually put me in touch with owner in Connecticut that had a set of the Dune Wheels painted to match the car.

 

I spotted this Friday evening at a Walmart near me.

 

These are really sharp-looking Beetles! Looks like he/she parks like we do - way out!
