Default Supermarine S-6B

I came across this photo of a 1929 aircraft, not your clunky looking prewar plane. A Supermarine S-6B, powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, a similar plane went over 407mph for the world record at the time. The design team later developed the Spitfire.

A sleek looking plane.

Nice find but have to say its the one behind that does it for me, the good old Lancaster with the Spitfire coming a close second.

About ten years later the design of the spitfire was done, not bad for its day though was it.

The Spitfire.

If you have never heard a Spitfire or a Mustang do a low pass over the field you've missed out.
