Default FREE - Two new batteries for Crossfire sirens

I am offering two brand new batteries for the alarm siren for free. I purchased them for my siren but found that my siren batteries leaked and destroyed the circuit board. I have no need for these batteries. I will mail them for free to the lower 48 states. PM me if you are interested.

My wife just told me that you can't mail ni-cad batteries without special procedures so I am just going to dispose of the batteries. Sorry.
These sirens use Nimh batteries and my ones came in the mail.
I purchased NiCads before and they came in the mail no nuclear bomb like protection to be seen.

Free batteries was a positive action, pity it had a negative outcome.

I know the post office wants you to declare lithium batteries. Probably due to the fires they have caused.

onehundred80,
I know it should be ok to ship these batteries but when I received them (purchased them on eBay) they were in a electronic clear/blue bag stamped "Electronic Device". Of course I didn't save the bag since I was going to install the batteries in my non-working siren. When I opened the siren I found that the batteries leaked and destroyed the circuit board so I didn't need the batteries. I will give them away and provide free shipping to anyone living in the lower 48 states. PM me if you want the batteries. Yes, the batteries are Ni-MH and not Ni-cad.

I was going to give them away but the post office said that they were hazardous. Not wanting to get in trouble I'll just dispose of them at our recycling center. And yes, the batteries are Ni-MH and not Ni-cad. This thread can be deleted.

It is a shame. The Post Office is advising you wrong. There is no restriction on Ni-MH batteries. Tell them you want the reference ( https://www.usps.com/ship/shipping-restrictions.htm ) which does not include Ni-MH. When they don't pony up a reference tell them about this reference here. Just keep them from touching each other (to prevent them from shorting out) and ship them anywhere within the USA you want.

GraphiteGhost,
I looked at your reference and I agree with you. If anyone in the lower 48 states wants the two new siren batteries I will ship them free of charge. The new batteries only have one connection on the negative (-) side so anyone who wants to install them will need to solder two jumper leads to the one negative (-) connection and solder the other ends of the jumpers to the circuit board. Send me a PM and I'll respond to the first PM I receive.

To all,
I received a PM requesting the two new batteries. I will mail them out tomorrow. Please don't send any PMs requesting the batteries since they are no longer available.

FYI I have been involved with RC Scale flying airplanes for years. We ship nicads, nimh, lipoly, lithium ion all over north america using the US and Canadian Postal system as they are all used in our planes. Also radios go back and forth the border all the time for set ups and tune ups with the batteries installed. Saying you can't do it is a myth/urban legend. Not much today doesn't have batteries.

John,
My wife was given bad info at the post office. Since I have never mailed batteries I didn't know the rules. After reviewing information provided in an earlier post, I posted that I would mail the batteries to whoever needed them. I received a PM from a Crossfire Forum member requesting my two new batteries. I am mailing him the batteries, free of charge including shipping, tomorrow morning.
