When you say, "tremendous improvement" just what do you mean?
Improvement in power, looks, sound, any or all of the above
Re: MB engine covers for $159 + shipping
Just looks....
The cover belongs there because it was made for the engine. The Chrysler design, especially on the base coupe was made to be as inexpensive as possible. The MB cover is a great looking cover. There are many photos posted, but it is better than the photos. The silver accents are quite stylish.
Since they use the same air filter element, air intake tubes, and same engine air port, I doubt if there is any performance benefit.
I'm glad I did the change. Every Crossfire owner who has seen the MB engine cover has ordered one.
Since the air filters are included, it's quite a bargain, and it takes two minutes to change the cover.. actually.. two minutes...

They look like they should actually work better as the intake tubes are straighter and cleaner like the SL55 intake. Gets rid of all the bends and restiction points in the Chrysler setup.

I like the look of your SLK 320 cover used with the stock tubes, but was hoping for larger intake tubes so I can use some Spectra Cone Filters.
I now have the part#s for the C320 two piece covers that I have seen here. They have a 3" intake tube so I may go that route.
It will cost at least twice the amount though
The airbox (rear) cover is 112-090-15-01 priced at around $165.
The front piece # is 112-010-04-67 and goes for around $60.
These two parts make the complete cover, and have larger intake tubes.
The prices are from a friend that works at a MB dealer, and says that these parts are readily available.
I can also buy the SLK320 (112-090-05-01) cover for around $150.
Peace
Paul

Re: MB engine covers for $159 + shipping
Y'all,
Just a quick update on an old thread.
Mercedes Benz Direct Parts has the 112-090-05-01 cover for stock NA engines (with two air filters installed) on sale for $76.23 plus shipping.
https://www.mbdirectparts.com/oem-pa...ner-1120900501
Mine came to Pensacola, FL in 2 days for $18.00 via UPS.
It is a direct swap for the stock cover. Pull off the old, pop on the new.
With Andrew's Crossfire labels, "Chrysler" no longer appears on Silver Bullet II.
Cheers

Re: MB engine covers for $159 + shipping
Google shows them still available, three or four listings in fact.
I have not tried to buy one but it may be worth the effort, the larger airbox would be a better bet to improve air intake.
Mercedes engine cover #A 112 090 11 01 The front part of this two piece cover is part #A112 010 04 67
The larger air box that I list needs larger intake tubes, but the OEMones fit on the inside rather than the outside.
The airbox listed just looks different with no improvement in performance, get the larger MAF as well.
Details are on the forum and you will get better performance.

Re: MB engine covers for $159 + shipping
Dang, I must have got the last one at MBDirectParts.com - mine was ordered Sunday 14 OCT 18 and was delivered yesterday 16 OCT 18
They must be depleting fast, like the cup holder replacement bins went.
Get 'em while you can...

Re: MB engine covers for $159 + shipping
Thanks 180 I've already saved, printed and read that many times, I am a little confused about the elbow and MAF housing. The other guide found ( Your Version 2) on the forum has you using a different MAF housing and switching the sensor from the old one over. Is the elbow and the MAF housing bigger on the 74 MM setups? Or do they use the same size for both.?

The elbow is the one that came with the car. The MAF housing is larger inside diameter and better results have been achieved using the original MAF sensor. Some used the sensor that comes with the 74 mm MAF housing and it settled in finally.
Why add the larger diameter throttle body and still use the smaller MAF housing, I guess it will still work though. Would any difference be noted if you kept the smaller one? I guess not really.

Re: MB engine covers for $159 + shipping
I appreciate your time and effort 180, I've already received the 74mm throttle body but haven't yet sourced the other parts it is on my to do list. in looking around the intake tubes seem to be the hardest to find.
