Charcoal canister --- FREE !
Charcoal canister --- FREE !
I have a charcoal canister that if someone needs it they can have it for free , just cover shipping . I bought it used for the shut off valve that screws on top , but I didn't need the actual canister . they are about $400 from a dealer , but to anyone that can use it , free .
repeat it does NOT have the shut off valve with it .

I would very much like this to go to someone who can use it and not someone how is just going to turn around and put it up for sale . I could do that but prefer to get it to someone that can use it .
Re: Charcoal canister --- FREE !
Not sure why you would automatically assume I want to resell this and not put it into use. This canister is not really a hot commodity, but rather a part that most guys don't even think about unless it's broken or compromised; as was the case for you. In my case, I was sent a brand new AEM adjustable fuel regulator with an improperly seated diaphragm, and rather than just letting the vent tube vent to atmosphere(as I now have it), I had it initially hooked up to the diaphragm. After a few attempts at starting and before realizing the reg. was faulty, it pumped pressurized fuel into the canister, flooding it. Not certain that the EVAP system can or will ultimately purge it all out or if the canister is forever compromised; I just don't know enough about that system. But thought it prudent to just swap it out for peace of mind.
That said; If someone else has a more important need for it, then by all means, let them have it. I'll stay tuned. PM sent.

Re: Charcoal canister --- FREE !
that was not directed to you at all . just didn't put it in my first post . I have given other things away for free just to have someone take it and put it on ebay . By all means if you can use it in any way I want you to have it . that why I posted this !
sorry if that looked like it was directed to you , not my intention .

Re: Charcoal canister --- FREE !
Does anyone know the useful life of these canisters? W/O physical damage(or accidental flooding), is the charcoal aeration process a lifetime process?
Re: Charcoal canister --- FREE !
Can anybody answer the previous question quoted above?
Re: Charcoal canister --- FREE !
I may be far off the truth but my guess is that the charcoal is used to absorb the fumes in a safe manner otherwise you would have a canister filled with an explosive gas. Venting the fumes gives room for more fumes to be collected.

I did find this section in my 08 manual, It is in Volume 3, in the ORVR system, section 25, page 24 onwards. The prior year manuals might have a page or two different but just check that section 25.

Thank you. I looked it up and it mentions that the EVAP charcoal canister is "Maintenance Free". I guess we can assume lifetime? Diamonds and charcoal are forever.

Ahh yes, but if you do wish/want to replace it, there are instructions on how to separate the parts, as well. Hope you can use it, or maybe pay it forward to another member who wound up having theirs damaged by some object.
