Default sucking at shifting

Ok so maybe i'm used to racing my sr-20 too much but i been having issues with the shifting. daily driving seems to be around 2,500 rpms to shift most times on flats i just take off on 2nd. but when i am pushing it cuz some ricer punk wants to test me i feel that 4k rpms is good but 1st gear... well it feels like when i let go of the clutch the xmsn and engine drop 2-3 inches... maybe im over reading this but its hard to learn to race when all we have is ricers around here.
