Poll: What is the final say on who has the fastest car when drag racing?
I voted on potential.....................because my SRT is a potential 9 second car(if I put a 500shot of naaaaawws on it).
I'm with you all the way on this one, photoman.
The "Dodge Nitro+ nitrous + S/C + 5" headers + tailwind + OMGWTFBBQ = The mostest fastest car EVARRRR" thread made me want to punch babies.
Race cars. Compare Slips. Sip Beer. Be a man.

To see who was the quickest, I look at the slip for the Elapsed time.
To see who was the fastest, I look again at the slip for the MPH.
Yes, there is a difference between quickest and fastest.

A fast car in the hands of a slow driver isn't going to win any races. A slow car in the hands of a fast driver will. I've run down plenty of cars with more HP than mine on a road course - does that mean my car is faster? Nope, just that the combination of car/driver was more capable that day.
At the risk of beating a dead horse (this same discussion in another thread) it really comes down to who crosses the finish line first. It's fairly common in a drag race for one car to run a slower ET but cross the line first due to reaction time. It's also common for a more powerful car to trap at a higher speed and still lose, perhaps due to traction issues at launch. So the fastest car does not always win the race, and what sweeter victory is there than beating a car with a lower ET or higher trap speed?
All this talk is just BS bench racing. If you've got a faster car and still manage to lose, then the car needs a serious driver mod. The guy who crosses the line first wins. Period. And what kind of jerk loses a race only to say "oh yeah, well, my car is still faster than yours - look at the time slip sucka". Uh, yeah, you still lost the race, jerk.

I agree with what Mike-in-Orange said.
My answer would be the time slip - assuming both drivers are racing at the same track, on the same day.
If both car & drivers line up to race under the same conditions - then the one who crosses the finish line first is always the fastest.
Even if the winner has a slower car and wins by beating the other driver with a great reaction time.

This is still a flawed poll......
You look at the slip and either compare the fastest speeds or the quickest times.

Here we go again lmao.
Some people like to make every excuse and use every loophole they can to say they won a race or have the fastest car.
Everyone has their own opinion, some more extreme than others. That is okay I guess even though some can be quite silly.
My thoughts are: who crossed the finish line first won and who had the faster time is faster. Anything else is just an excuse.
