Default 1st Time at the Track!!!

IT WAS A BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was great! Met a bunch of cool people and got to hammer the car a bit. Loved it!!! I got 5 runs in with the 1st and last runs being the best. I had various issues with runs 2, 3, and 4. My best run was an 8.3778 at 83mph. I was hoping for a bit more, but given the heat and my first time on the strip, I am still very pleased. Here is a grid with the particulars:

4/30/2010 NorthEast Dragway, Hertford, NC
DA was approximately 1100 '

R/T 60' 330' 1/8th ET 1/8th mph notes

1 0.4972 1.9339 5.4530 8.3778 83.58 temp guage was at 1/2 mark or very slightly above. Launched at ~1500. Outside temp was ~85. Started racing at 7:10pm

2 0.0541 2.1459 5.7352 8.6990 82.77 temp guage was at 1/2 mark or above. Launched at ~1500. Outside temp was ~85

3 0.1882 2.0086 5.5865 8.6233 80.09 hit shifter by accident and dropped back to 2nd gear for a split second

4 0.5829 2.2963 6.8204 10.0003 75.14 blew the tires away at the line. Launched at ~1800. Traction control kicked in heavily even though it was "off"

5 0.5485 1.9497 5.4835 8.4116 83.43 temp guage was below 1/2 mark. Launched at ~1500. Outside temp was ~73. Last run was at 9:45pm

Cheers,
KrzyFast

Krzyfast, congrats.... you need to get some tires that hook-up... it will make a huge difference...

1/8 mile is tooooooo short... it's over before you can enjoy it... but any time running at the track is good

I have to agree with Mike on this one....when 1/8 mile racing, it's all about the launch....find you a quarter mile track, but arn't tracks and the people there a lot of fun...

Agree with both of you....I need some sticky tires. The street tires were not cutting it.
The people at the track were great. I had quite a few of them come up and comment on the XFire. They really liked it. A couple of them had never seen or even knew about a SRT6 . They were only familiar with the NA version.

As for the 1/4 track the nearest one is in Richmond, VA - a 3hr drive from my house. But I do agree that it would be SO much more fun running it vs. the 1/8. As it is the 1/8 mile track is approx 55 miles from my house. I will keep practicing at the 1/8 mile and plan for some time over the summer to make it up to Richmond.

I just noticed that I have black oily residue on my SC pulley....belt slip maybe..... time for a pulley saver kit and new belt. An excuse for car parts, love it!

Cheers,
KrzyFast

No, it's time to figure out where that oil residue came from...maybe when you changed your oil, or a leak in that area....belt slip will kill your times....good luck, and I can tell from your post you are still excited...good for you
