Re: oneweek later 6-30-2010 went to the track

not me ,, i look at it this way, you have a hobby, (golf, model airplanes, ) or whatever it cost money to have a hobby, mine happenes to be drad racing, (if it was road racing then i could not aford it) but yes it may cost more than collecting modle cars again i love drag racing I have had a drag car (street or super pro) sence 1959 when we raced on the old Amelia Earhart feild in miami fl. http://ct3.pbase.com/t6/20/35420/4/7...2.5hkEKhPh.jpg1959 - Advertisement for the Drag Races at Amelia Earhart Field.
so you see if you want and love your hobby then get that car out there if it brakes fix it and get back as soon as possible. jim

Hey guys, new srt-6 owner here. Looking to beef the car up a bit and saw the pics above. Yikes! LOL Is this common with the srt-6 or more of a fluke. I may be looking at alternative diffs too! LOL Anyone have an idea of price and intall costs if they decide to make them? Thanks!

this seems to be an issue with modded cars that run dr's on the track. buggin is working a group buy on the srt6 forum so look there. ballpark cost will be around 1100$ for the lsd plus any install costs, but will fix the issue for good.
post on the 6 forum under the wavetrac thread if you want in so we can track the interested folks

Re: one week later 6-30-2010 went to the track

Please excuse my ignorance. dr's are you referring to drag radials? I was hoping to do a couple of slight mods, but nothing drastic. Tune. intake pulley and done probably. Unless it is needed, I doubt I would look into the lsd. I am of the impression that our cars already have lsd, so I am assuming this is an upgraded lsd they are making. Any idea of what hp it will handle? Thanks, Chris

dr's = drag radials. oem diff is an open diff not and lsd. wavetrac diff will handle all the power you can make with this driveline

The problem with the wavetrac or any new diff is the price. Not that it's a bad price. I just don't want to spend that much, plus installation, just so I don't break my car. That's just not in the budget.

P.S. Anyone want to buy some drag radials?

Thanks for the info 32Krazy. I am a bit confused though. We only have one wheel spinning under our srt-6's? I thought that when one wheel spun, it started turning the other as well(kinda like the old mopar sure grip). I'm tempted to go lay a black mark. LOL

the way it works is the computer senses 1 wheel spinning so it applies traction control to limit the spin thus the 2 black marks. if you examine the marks and the rubber in the wheelwell you will see the drivers is darker and more rubber there. its not equal to each side so the lsd fixes it.
tom2112 is it really to expensive? 2k for rims 800 for dual cai 800 for tunes 1k for tires, you get my point. the cost is relative to the fun you want to have with the car. all toys are expensive to some regard.

jim i apologize for jackin your thread!! fellas all the q's on the diff can be asked on the 6 forum

[quote=jim i apologize for jackin your thread!! fellas all the q's on the diff can be asked on the 6 forum[/quote]

no problem for me , it will just be hard for others to find the info on the rear,,, personly i think the rears are good ,,,(until you try a burn out) or a real hard take off on the street with the traction control on,,, when you leave the TC on and leave hard from a red light , the computer will put the brakes on ,on the tire that is spinning, this after some time will brake something,, because of the jerking back and forth with the (Traction control on) you are puting a lot of strain on the gears ,axles, and the pin that holds all the spider gears, with this last rear i installed i now start my car and turn the traction off, then drive, yes you have to be careful,, the car tries to go sideways when going around a conner and you give it too much gas, on this new rear i have 20 hard runs on the strip and about 100 on the street.
Going back the my PT Cruiser days ,,i had rewired my traction control to stay off, in the ptcrew.com forum there ar about 50 people that broke or bent axles,,, i never did, yet my car was abused more that oll of the others put together,,, 471 runs at the track, over 700 hard take offs on the street , I blew the transmission eight (8) times,,blew the burnt up the turbo three (3) times and wore out six(6) sets or tires,, OH owed the car for six (6) years yet, sold it with 30,000 miles on it, and never broke a axel,./the PT ran 12.9 @ 108 jim

Re: one week later 6-30-2010 went to the track

That's what I thought about the rear. Ours is what I consider a limited slip diff. It helps limit traction loss by allowing the other tire to help, but it is not an equal distribution, so one does pull harder. With this new LSD, is it a tru posi unit or just have a better distribution between tires and stronger parts? Sorry to ask so many questions about this, but I am not familiar with the company or how this diff would work. Any kind of guarantee with this diff if they make it? Thanks, Chris

sorry no chris ours is not a limited slip diff it is a open diff. the traction control hits the brakes on the tire that is going the fastest,, so this make the rear wheels turn at the same speed, this is a lot of torque on the diff, axels and all the gears in the diff. it would be like you start off from your house and one block away put the car in reverce the car slams you foward and then you quickly put it back in drive,, this is how the read feels every time you take off hard,, so i am turning off my T C and see it this fixes it. jim
