Mile high racing
I took the basically stock SRT6. to Bandimere raceway last night. The track is at 5830 altitude. The DA was 8450 feet. So not much air. My runs were all real close from 14.09 to 14.20. Top speeds were all right at 102. My time adjusted for altitude is a 13.43 @ 106 mph. I'm sure I can get into the mid thirteens with better conditions and cooler weather. For comparison a new Mustang gt was running 15.40 @ new wrx 14.70. a SS Camaro 14.6 ect.
Went back to the track last night. The DA was still 8200' I also had a 20 mph head wind to deal with. I got the car into the 13s with a 13.997 pass @ 101.61. I (corrected time 13.36) was up against a new Camaro SS. He red lighted and I still beat him. I worked on my 60' times got that down to a 2.20.
Yes most poeple don't realize how much atmosphere effects performance. Thats why it always nice to get a Density altitude measurement at the time of your run to compare. For example i run very consistant 12.0@114.5 at about 2,200 DA. My local track is below 500 feet but its built in a swap and we normally see 80% humidity.
Its all dependent on the DA for track times. Up here the Turbos cars rule as they loose less than 1/2 second the SC cars loose closer to3/4 of a second. The N/a cars can loose 1.5 seconds. Examples of 1/4 mile times are a 2010 Mustang GT 15.25,2010 Camaro SS 14.7 an Audi S5 15.2. The EVO and WRX crowds rule the track.I am thinking the 178 mm pulley set is the way to go. Get that SC going much quicker.
