Yellow Stuff & Hoosiers - Grippy
I installed the EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads for the 2011 Autocross season. Still working through the break-in period, but they should provide a better bite over OEM. I also will be running Hoosiers this season, 245s up front and 295s in the back. First time out next Sunday.
Sounds exciting. I'm looking to try Hoosiers next season. But I'm wanting to get my suspension up to the task before switching. I'm ripping A-Arm bushings with street tires so imagine with more stick. Keep an eye on yours with those Hoosiers and best of luck this coming season. How about some pictures with the new rubber?

I'll get some pics up by the weekend. I will definitely need to run at least 5mm spacers up front. The 225 AD08's are a little wider than the 225 Conti's, but I still didn't need wheel spacers.
I bought my second set of wheels from Brian "NoCones" Hertwick (sp), and he claims to have gotten 285 35 18s on the stock wheels with only 5mm spacers. If all goes well with the 245s, I may experiment later in the season with some wider rubber.
On the brake pad side, last season I felt that I didn't get all the stopping power with the OEM pads. Tires weren't screaming, and I just seemed to take forever to slow down.
On the down side, we've had two events cancelled so far this season. The only event run was cut short by rain. A very frustrating 2011 so far.

I also ran the Hoosier A6 in the 285/30/18 size up front, used 5mm spacers and also had to shave a bolt (on both sides). Don't remember the name of it. It's on the upper inside. I ended up chording them and I think what contributed most to that was the tire being on a too narrow of a rim (stock). I think if you could run a wider rim, you'd get more life out of the tire and I also think the tire would work better. I'm running ADVAN AD08's this year and having a lot of fun with them.
Ah yes, the dreaded upper control arm bolt stikes again.
I did have some pics to show the Yellow Stuff, and how the Hoosiers stack against the AD08s.
To answer Les's question, I'm going with A6's up front (to deal with the understeer), and R6's in back. I may be spending a lot of time adjusting to temperature variation and amount of rear rotation with water and PSI, but its pretty wild in SOLO II. I don't need the finesse that Les needs at the track.
I still haven't done anything to the motor, but I've done some minor adjusting of the toe and camber (thanks Les). I'll post results and observations as I go along. I have a GTech RR, and video all my runs, so I'll try to focus on facts.
