Default 1/2 mile write up and pictures

Gia, my Yorkie, woke me up early at 6:15 this morning. I guess she knew I was leaving for the day and early meant enough time to take her for a walk. She was correct.

After all the normal morning routine I headed for the car, checked tire pressures, 32 psi rear and 36 psi front. That should be a good beginning. The car was loaded from the day before so I hopped in and drove off into the rain. Yes, rain. I met up with a friend at a Burger King, talked a little BS and headed out to Rafael Hernandez Airport in Aguadilla an hour and half away; without traffic. It rained and rained and rained. As we got closer the rain let up and the sun began to find holes in the clouds. One thing that didn't stop was the wind. The one time I checked the wind at the airport it was 18 knots from the East. The ½ mile is run towards the east. I arrived at 9:30 AM more or less, on time American time or real early Puertorican time, signed the wavers, found my parking which had my number painted on the tarmac and started prepping the car. Detail spray and microfiber towels. Because this event is “exclusive by invitation only” I needed to make an impression. After the cleanup, 5 gallons of 104 went into the tank. I unloaded my “stuff” and put it in the Mustang area. (no one steals Mustang stuff, it’s generally not worth much …. J/K) Lot’s of waiting. People were slow to arrive. All my pictures are from early in the day before tha majority of the cars arrived. Some were detained by the police on the way for indiscretions. Anyway, the drivers meeting didn't occur until 11:45 but then things got moving rapidly. I was one of the first 10 to make a pass.

My times in order:
1rst 138.88 The car was cold
2nd 138.80 No changes
3rd 138.29 No changes …. I've got to experiment, it’s getting hotter and slower
4th 137.95 Lowered air pressures to 30 psi rear 35 psi front – mistake
5th 139.23 Taped the front, pressures 35 psi rear 41 psi front, removed wipers, seat
6th 139.06 No changes
7th 138.71 No changes but wind is picking up and rain is coming fast

I had to hurry to put the seat back in before the rain started and I just managed to load the car before it started coming down. Some drivers were waiting for the wind to die down, some ran out of nitrous, some came on flat bed trailers. The times still haven’t been posted on the website but I know a blue GTR tuned at the shop where I dyno my car, with over 1000 hp to the wheels did 189. The white Supra 183. I saw 146 mph from an E63 AMG. The Corvettes were from 155 to 165.

I’m happy and as one of the Solo officials from Ponce said, your car is prepared for Solo with all that implies so WTF and how TF are you running 138??? The organizer of the event came over to congratulate me which was pleasant. He had to be convinced by my inside connection that I would put on a good show and it seems I did. No one had a clue, beside me and a few Solo buddies, what a SRT-6 was or could do. Some eyes got opened … can we all say wide together. WIDE! Yes!

My data logs show I was at around 13 AFR at WOT. I’m glad I had 104 in the tank. It could also explain why the car felt weak in 4th.

Here's the video of my best run. Take a look at the tent and the starters shirt to get an idea of how hard the wind was blowing. The radio and air were on while waiting in line.
