I know how fast I can go. I say go for it, if for no other reason than to do it once.

Actually, that's not a bad idea.

Might be expensive for a weekend rental, though. I have to believe that's why they scheduled it for a Thursday (lower traffic).

Steve, I am leaning towards being a corner-hoe at Atlanta Motorsports Park for the HPDE. You get the experience, $$$ credit and you get to watch other people break things for a change.

The airstrip looks fun, but it's a Z-fest. Mainly Japanese cars. While it would be fun to beat a lot of them, I would miss not having any Euro comradery. I could wear my NISMO work shirt and **** them off though, LOL.

Hmmm... pure speculation here... but I wonder how fast a modded out SRT-6 could go in a 1/2 mile...

I forget who it was but they posted 168 mph Texas mile. And our cars routinely get high teens (116 for me) in the quarter mile...

Obviously, it won't be 1/2 way in the middle of those numbers... but 140 would be a nice guess... 145 tops maybe?!?

Les did 139 with a STRONG headwind, but he also has some healthy mods, light wheels, and lowered suspension.

So, anywhere between 132-136 for most of us on calm conditions would be a good estimate. If you're heavily modded and the wind is favorable, low 140's. Which is smoking.

I must be on an ignore list or something. 139.23 with a 18 knot headwind on the 24th of march (2012) . And it was Brian Brave that ran the Texas mile and went 169.xx if memory serves me correctly.

go to tracks unlimited and check the site out. atlanta motorsports in dawsonville ga. brand new facility with a 2 mile road course. jhm2k and 13dog and myself are volunteering to work the course for a 100$ per day worked credit towards a future event. 3 events in the summer and a 3 day event in oct. work 2 events and get a free event.
prolly wont get to steele until the fall. getting to hot and i have some new secret mods going on which will req some intense tuning. (can you say stacked!! )
im working with some great talent on the euro cars that havent had much interaction with the s/c 3.2 and they want to see what the market is.

Talking Re: how fast can you go!!!

Can you really run a street car without a cage ?? I had considered going to NC for the mile and found a 125 limit unless you get a cage.

WOuld like to consider doing this, does anyone have any cost info?

texas mile has no cage req. under 200 mph. 180 mph or less its really just a helmet gloves and a fire extinguisher

cost for N.C. is 125$ non refundable per driver
