Really depends on how much you want to drive on these tires and how much you want to spend. The Michelin PS2 in a 285 is a great tire all around but pricey. The nitto Nt05r is sticky but wont last very long on a daily driven car. The Nt05 is what I have on the rear now and it is a great tire, little nosiy but it doesnt bother me. Hankook rs3 is also a great all around tire but wont last very long on the street

Choose one from this list:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/types/extremeperf.jsp

I have had a number of sets of tires from the Extreme and Maximum performance categories. I recently bought the Bridgestone RE-11As and I am VERY impressed with them so far.

X2 on the RE-11's. Highly recommended. Best 180wear tire I've experienced so far. At the track(HPDE), I've shocked a few guys running race rubber; Love it when that happens . I'll buy, and go through one more set of these before I graduate to race rubber.

I use to think my old Goodyear F1 D3's were sticky, but after installing some F1's on the coupe, and roasted them for over 100', I no longer think any summer compound tire is going to hold the coupe any longer. So, I am searching for drag radials. If you are going to track it, suck it up and buy you a set of drag radials on some cheap rims....

The RE-11A is the new version of the RE-11. The tread pattern is the same, but the compound has been updated. Bridgestone and independant reviewers are claiming the RE-11a is even faster than the already excellent RE-11.

Bridgestone RE11A: A New Suspect Has Entered the Crime Scene

The SCCA reworked all their autocross classes and will have a 200 treadwear minimum for all the street tire classes starting in 2015. I think it is a little suspicious that the RE-11 was rated either 180 or 200 treadwear in different sizes, Bridgestone claims improved grip with the new compound, but the RE-11a is conspicuously rated 200 treadwear across the board.

I wrote a more thorough review over in this thread:

FYI, most auto cross and road race tires need a bit of heat to reach maximum grip. I would save up until you can invest in some 17" wheels and drag radials.

I thought we were drag racing.... Anyway....summer compound tires are close for good grip, but won't last any longer than a good drag radial, and won't perform as good as a drag radial...so I have to agree 17" wheels and Hoosiers or MT ET's...drag radials and save your street tires for the normal driving.

^This.

You have to love drag radials. Look at this tire squat on the track on the launch. That tire sat normally round/inflated moments before.

I was able to put 16" drag radials on the SLK32 AMG. 16s should fit on the rear of the Crossfires too, right? I run 255/50/16 Micket Thompson ET Street Radials on the drag strip.

if you need a street tire try a togo r888. 100 tread wear compound and good for a 10.9 @ 129 1/4 in my car. many have run low 10's with them. as with any soft compound they suck in the rain

I run 285/35 Hankook Ventus and ripped two 1.7 60' this past Saturday. Best run was a 12.107 @ 113.99 MPH. Best trap that night was a 114.90 MPH. Guess I need to upload my new runs to myslips.com!

Great job, sooo close to the 11's! Which Ventus? R-S3, R-S3v2, V12 evo K110, or V12 evo2 ?

Yes, 16" rims would be best with drag radials. I already own 17" rims so I will keep them..... Say what you like, I have run my street tires as long as anyone drag racing, and you won't beat a good set of drag radials for launching. I have 1.7 60' times many times on those summer compound Goodyears, but a good set of drag radials will get you 1.6's....
