Launch techniques
I have a 2004 Crossfire automatic. My friend wants to race me in his Pontiac GTP (he thinks it is God's gift from heaven). I'm pretty sure I will beat him, but I was wondering if any of you guys have some launch techniques so I can get my best time against him. Thanks for your help.
Be careful...you must give it all you got to win...both cars are equally matched, I must say, so it is essential that you give it the most and not be easy with him. Press the brake pedal and load up the torque converter to about 3000, let off the brake and take off. Don't forget to disengage traction control.
get the ECU chip... upsolute.. and smoke his car without even trying.... drops your 0 - 60 times HUGE... after chip + exhaust... I smoke the rx8's, run equal times with the 2000's...

A gtp with bolts can hit high 13's all day long. And thats exhaust intake, chip and pulley thats good for about a 13.7ish.
He is completely stock. I know this for sure because we are good friends. I am also completely stock. Therefore, I just need to know what RPM i need to powerbreak to. golfdude said to rev until 3000 RPM, but that sounds like a lot and im afraid the tires would just spin forever. but i will try it anyways. the only thing he has done to the GTP is that he had to replace his idler pulley because it wore his supercharger belt the wrong way and it snapped. However, the pulley is a stock replacement.
Don't be suprised if he pulls on you, he just may. And being a crossfire owner myself and having driven many GTP's I say its a drivers race, but given the torque advantage of the s/c series II 3.8, I'd put my money on the gtp. I just raced a legacy GT the 250hp one from a dead stop and lost. And that car has 10hp more than a GTP but weighs more also. And I hit every shift perfectly. I did lose some time in my 1-2shift, tires broke loose dang winter roads. When i luanch my stick i rev to about 2400-2500 and feather it out. IN the auto I think around the same would be good.

Hey Boba do you have any 0-60 times with mods ?
You have chip and the exhaust right ?
pulled in with that little digit thingy ! I cant think of the name... 0 - 60 times of 5.8 - 5.9... wasnt too bad!
its a VERY nice performance modification id say!

Well I just ran a pulled GTP last night and got killed bad, but this guy was far from stock. I was running 15.5's @ 90 mph with bad tires and the temp was 102 on the track. Oh I have a 6 speed, and I'm stock. Does any one know if K&N drop's are worth it on this car?
I hate to say it, but I've run mine @ the track and at that time my best was 15 flat @ 93 mph. I staged @ 3,000. I think I could have gotten 2 or 3 more tenths by staging @ 3,500 to 4,000. I also think you have to shift it @ 5,800 or a little less. I took mine to 6,000 and its hard to hit it right @ 6000 before you hit the limiter. I only had 2 - 3,000 miles on the car at the time, I'll try to go back soon and see if I can do better. I agree with Bullseye and X'ed those cars have to be driven just right at the launch, otherwise they bog down real fast.
