Default Wrecked the car

On track. I have a few theories, and video, but I need to investigate further to be sure why it happened. What I know is the front wheels stopped turning while braking from over 100, I didn't feel ABS activating and I wasn't slowing down normally. I completely released the brake pedal when I reached the turn in point but had way too much speed to make the corner. I am really, truly, unbelievably lucky. All the damage is plastic. I inspected the car in the pits and made a few minor repairs. Drove home. No drama. More info tomorrow as I'm drinking at the moment and a perhaps a touch in shock. I haven't seen the video yet. No I have no excuse for NOT doing further racing modifications. (The car was fast …… holy fv(k fast)

Glad you are OK
The damage is only plastic ??
Not sure what you mean by that with speeds of 100mph into a turn and then a wreck.
Take a rest and be thankful you are alive and then sort out the details of actually happened and share the rest of the story with us

Front fascia, fog lights, plastic under the car, a few scrapes here and there. Bumper upwards is fine. Airbags didn't deploy. I don't know how I ended on top of the tires looking at the sky. The car was still running. Got out looked at it, thanked my lucky stars. I did some pulling and moving of tires around and under the car to facilitate the removal because I was sure lots of parts would be yanked off when the tow truck pulled my car down. Got back in, put it in neutral and they pulled me off/out of the tires. No leaks, drove the car back to the pits and was considering racing the next heat. After getting the underneath squared away I saw rubbing signs and felt the heat in the fender wells. The front tires tire stopped turning because (evidence) they were jammed on the top side of the fender wells.

The track was treacherous. 8 cars wrecked yesterday including cars in the driving school. I was being judicious with my braking points. That said, I hit them pretty hard. Brake fluid is new. Pads are good. Braided lines perfect. No leaks. The front tires, for reasons to be determined, made severe contact with the inner fenders under heavy braking. I'm searching for the cause. Could be my fault (recent adjustments) or a front suspension part failure. Now that I've said it, I'll go check it even though I'm not in the mood.

Glad you're okay and only minor damage to the car.
Got to appreciate those tire walls
Did anyone notice smoke when those tires stopped rotating?

Back from the basement. No front suspension failure that I can see. No smoke from the tires that I could see either ……. my thesis ……. wrong?

+1 on the very glad it wasn't worse and that you were not hurt! Looking at the front end photo . . . I don't think that's going to polish out . . .

"Brake fluid is new" What kind did you use ? DOT 3 can't take racing (or even serious high speed autocrossing). Another possibility is a collapsed line.

Les, just now seeing this; sorry to hear. This is my greatest fear on the track; flucking up this beautiful car that I share w/ my wife! Good luck getting it back to pristine again Les.

Sorry to hear this Les, after you just got her back to 100%. Hopefully it is all superficial and easily fixed.

I have to wonder about the new suspension if you have been racing as long as you have and that is one of the newer items you have added. I am very interested to hear more about this.

It is one thing to be on the track and have some damage, it is another if you are at the Dragon and go over a cliff, ask me how I know...

I think I have the front too low and the tires interfered with the top bulges of the fenders. It wasn't a problem until the race rubber went on because: race rubber allows more G-forces under braking and the race tires are a little taller than the streets. I have 3 options now, hammer the bulges, raise the front, or both.
