Default Crossfire / WRX Video

Here's another video from Spring Mountain Motor Sports Ranch. I was helping a NEWBIE in his WRX who was running in the Novice Class. I wanted to video him so he could see what he was doing wrong or right on the track.

I really had to hold back in my car, because he had so little experience. This was his first time on a track. You'll see I got a little impatient after a few laps and had to pass him, then pull into the pits to wait for him to catch up.

Was there another WRX out there or did you lap him about halfway through the clip?

I don't recall lapping him, but I did put about half the track (3.1 miles) behind me and pulled into the pits to wait for him to catch-up, then pulled out behind him again to shoot some more video. He waved me by because I was pushing him too hard in the corners and he got a little nervous. After-all, it was his first weekend on the track and he had a basically stock vehicle and had only gone through ground school with an instructor the day before...

This was on day 2, Sunday, of the Racer Factory 5th Anniversary Event at Spring Mountain in NV and he definitely out drove the capabilities of his stock WRX. We're now helping him out with suspension upgrades and wheels / tires to get his car ready for next season... I'm sure he'll do much better when his car is dialed-in...

I was surprised at how much power those damn things have, he killed me on the straight-aways...

Yes, I know what you mean. I test drove a WRX STi and the thing is 300+ HP right from the factory. Combine that with the fulltime AWD and you have a pretty potent combination.

I thought about buying one but I couldn't get past that ugly monstrosity of a wing they put out on the back.

Good thing you didn't buy one because those things are majorally gay.

HDDP, that seemed to be a regular WRX, I am surprised he would pull you so hard considering they both put down around the same whp.

Also, that s2k, was it that fast or were you letting it pass you?

He bought the car from a friend of ours who had the car "TWEAKED" by the Subaru factory race guys here in So. Cal. Supposedly it's putting down 285 hp now... He still needs some suspension work and wheels / tires... Aside from being a BUTT UGLY car it seems to go quite well...

The S2000 you're referring to... Remember I said I was following my NEWBIE buddy to shoot some video of him? Yes the S2000 passed me, because I was following my SNAIL PACED buddy to get some shots... Trust me, the second he passed, I wanted to jump on it and chase him down, but that would have defeated my purpose of this event...

If you want to see a good race between me and an S2000 look at the other video entitled SMMR_1
