SRT Track Experience
Has anyone attended the SRT Track Experience or anyone planning on attending one soon? Recently purchased an SRT Roadster and am having a blast driving the car.
I've never raced in a track and definitely a newbie when it comes to racing. Figured this SRT event will let me learn how to drive "fast" better and see what the car can do at a safe environment.
Probably going to go at the one held in Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA this coming Nov. 18.

Never heard of the SRT Track Experience... But, I'm sure you'll have fun... Watch-out for turn 7-8, the infamous "CORK SCREW", it's a fast downhill, off cambered set of turns... Have fun!!!
i know what your talking about they had it for the neons and vipers ect one of the first years they got the srt cars out! my friends went it was great they said, he's going this year again. maybe he skipped last year but he will be out there with his yellow srt 4 with over 450 front wheel hp. he just rebuilt the engine and wants to see how it runs with the vipers lol!
Just got back from the SRT Track Experience at Laguna Seca in Monterey, Ca.
Here's the rundown...
There were three instructional "modules". 1) Autocross 2) Track 3) Drag and slalom. After all modules there is a thrill ride and two lucky winners got to ride in the new Viper Competition Coupe.
1) Autocross - this is basically a "track" set up with cones in a giant parking lot of sort. The object was to learn how to take the corners and apply proper braking techniques given braking points (cones) placed in the track. The cars that everybody got a chance to drive with the Neon SRT-4, Crossfire SRT-6, and the Viper (yes! the viper).
2) Drag and slalom - the drag strip part was a 1/8 mile stretch and the slalom was made up of 4 cones which you are supposed to get around as fast as you can without applying brakes. The cars/trucks that we got to drive were: Dodge Ram SRT-10, Dodge Magnum SRT-8, Chrysler 300C - SRT8, Crossfire SRT6. The fastest run on the drag was of course made by the SRT6. The time was 8.76s. My fastest run was 8.84s. Doing the slalom on the Dodge Ram was some scary sh*t. No rollovers, just a few spinouts, from someone actually driving the crossfire. Just as the other modules, you get to drive all cars and we got to do extra runs Le Mans style.
3) Now here's the best part. A run on some may argue as the best race track in the U.S. for each one of these cars; 1) Magnum SRT-8, 2) 300C SRT-8, 3) Viper. We did "ducks in a row" which there was a lead car driven by the professional race drivers and three of us following closely behind and no passing allowed. The lead car basically showed the line to the turns and the braking points. If you happen to be in the last car and the one in front of you is lagging and doing his own sh*t, well ya gotta fend for yourself and figure out the best way to take that hairpin turn without losing it :-). We had 3 laps on each car and for each lap the cars changed positions in the order for first to last in the "row". Can't tell you how much fun it was to drive any of the cars in a race track the way you wouldn't imagine driving your own car on a public road.
Lastly, we got to the "thrill ride". This is where you get to seat in the passenger seat for all the cars they had out there driven by a professional race car driver. If you want to see what your car can do, this was it. They didn't hold back at all. Funny.. when i got to ride in the viper, the driver told me to feel free to let him know to back off if it was getting too hairy. I told him "dude, i want you to scare the sh*t out of me". He gave me a big smile and I had an awesome ride.
Let me tell you, this event was worth every penny. For those of you who are newbie's to racing just like me, you gotta try it. For those of you who think "fun" is going fast in a straight line, well think again. Try Laguna Seca. Screw that Nascar oval track crap. Best part was you don't have to worry about crashing your own car. So no more excuses to not partake in this type of event. Oh, the average age of the group was probably around 50.
Hey HDDP, i give you major props for trying to get the guys in this forum involved in racing. Maybe i'd join you in Willow Springs one of these days.
