New Member IntroductionsWelcome new members !!
This is the place to post a new thread and introduce yourself and tell us a little about yourself and what model Crossfire you just bought or are looking to buy.
Threads created for anything other than introductions are subject to be moved to the appropriate section in the forum for the topic being posted.
I have had my eyes on the Crossfire from it's debut back in 04.
After going through a divorce in 05 and 06 and then getting my "stuff" together including remarrying, here we are in 2016.
I wasn't really looking last month as I have a Pontiac Vibe, Pleasureway RV van and a Harley Heritage Softail Classic to get me around and keep me busy with the wrenches. But I was kinda half looking through Craigs List ads last month and an ad for an 08 Platinum Coupe with 35K miles jumped out at me.
It was worded as such that I just had to check it out. After speaking with the owner and listening to him tell me that he could not understand why he had only a few calls on it in a month on Craigslist. The photos were really blurry as well.I got that feel inside that I had better get to the bank and drive 90 miles north the next day to check it out.
To make the story short I knew it was gonna be mine after about 60 seconds with it.
I bought it with a handshake and returned in 5 days in a rented car. The owner met me at the airport in Tampa while I dropped off the rental.
We drove it home without any issues and the pristine Pontiac Vibe came out of the garage to become not so pristine anymore and the crossfire took it's place.
It looks like I will need to do the valve covers and breather covers as they are leaking and I just ordered up pads and rotors all around, they should be here tomorrow.
It has been real interesting to read the posts in your (our) forum, much knowledge and comrade!
I stayed up late last night reading about the rear speakers being silent, now I know why. After searching forever for the 330uF Non polarized caps I finally located 2 on Ebay in japan .. $8 total
I posted last month saying that I had I bought Bosch 9600 FR8KII33X for my 08 XF Coupe Limited and would they work. I got zero answers and so I thought , well it must have been a dumb question. So, I'll answer it myself, Yes they work very well Thanks to have me in the fold, I look forward to being a part of it.

Good to have you aboard. If you can't find the answer, to a question, ask a question. There's not much I haven't been able to find out. When I'm stumped, someone always jumps in with advice or information I've overlooked or just didn't know. Congrats an happy motoring.
Sorry, I didn't see your post on the spark plugs.
All you usually have to do is look an item up in Amazon ( if they have it ) and check fit. They are correct about 95% of the time :
I saw that feature but I figured you guys have the experience running many different plugs over time and so I thought I would throw that out there as an introductory post. I missed the new member section, lol.
Anyway, i threw those plugs in and they seem fine, thanks for the info and good to meet you ala_xfire
Likewise, nice to meet you.
Did you see any of my numerous posts stating that it is a heck of a lot easier to remove the valve covers to change all the plugs ? ( plus it keeps all the skin on your hands where it belongs )
Yep, I did mine the first time with the covers on too, but then got a set of black crinkle painted ones.
During the process of changing the valve covers, I noticed how easy it was to access the spark plugs, and in particular ensure that all 12 coil to plug wires were firmly seated on the plugs.
( I have the squiggly Magnecor wires, they are really hard to seat if the covers are on )
My arthritic hands are still swollen from that job
If you keep it for awhile your hands will get worse, you'll find all manner of things to do to your Crossfire! Just because it's fun. Welcome to the Crossfire family!
