Hook Up with CTC at Bastrop?
Hello Folks,
The Central Texas Crossfires are working hard on trying to hook up with the Houston area group on our way out to Fredericksburg on the 19th. A quick Mapquest shows me we can pull into Bastrop State Park at 2 hours into our drive, if we take 290. This would make a good first stop for us to get out and stretch and take pictures and such and perhaps have some lunch.
This would give us about another 1 hour and 50 minutes into Fredericksburg mid afternoon to get checked into our hotels and then hit a beer garden. Those in the CTC could certainly continue on with us if they choose.
What do you folks think?
I haven't thought much about Sunday, but meeting for breakfast and then a drive over to Luckenbach, Enchanted Rock, or the Devils Backbone in Willow City would be very cool. We could combine the Enchanted Rock and Willow City Loop drive together.

That sounds excellent! Were you thinking of taking the road from Bastrop SP to Beuscher SP. Its absolutely Gorgeous 11 miles of twisty cave like woods great photo ops. theres a small lake also. Ben
Hey guys I'm one of the CTC members, have yall finalized your run yet? Several (or maybe all) of us would like to meet up somewhere and run with you to Fredericksburg.
Hey, Stogey.
I was planning on suggesting 290 all the way, just to get there, but if you guys know a nicer route, then please let me know. I'm sure our guys are open to anything from Bastrop SP onwards to Fredericksburg. It's your "kneck of the woods".

We're definitely coming. Already booked a room in Fredericksburg and so have at least 2 other Houston Xfires. You guys know the area much better than we do, so after meeting in Bastrop, we'll just follow you. We're just looking forward to some curves and hills that AREN'T exit/on ramps. I don't think we've decided on a route yet. Either 290 or I-10 to Columbus and then north on 71, I guess. Mapquest shows 2 1/2 hours to Bastrop from Houston taking I-10. So, a meeting time in Bastrop of around 11:00 would be good. Just tell us where to be.
Looking forward to meeting some other Xfire owners.

From Bastrop 71 to 290 and 290 on to Johnson city is a nice ride but from Johnson City on it gets flat but it is still an ok drive. It will take about 1 hour & 45 minutes. Walmart in Bastrop would be a easy place to hook up.

How about some input about PAULW's plan about the route and where to meet. It sounds workable to me or does anyone have a better idea. We need to finalize the plan so we can post in Crossfire Meets.
That all sounds cool to me. Sounds like we just need to agree on a start point and time (houston) Im coming from Pasadena. how about some where around 290/bw8 just need a place to hook up with ya'll. Guess we should bring a lunch for Bastrop or shall we stop and grab something to go, close to the park? Has anybody ever been down the scenic road between the parks? I highly recommend it!! (third try now)

I believe the guys from Houston wanna do some twisties ! I'm thinkin Bastrop to Kyle via 21 and into the Hill Country via 150 ? Wimberly, Blanco up the river road to Lukenback, Stonewall on into Friedricksburg. Quite a drive I know ! Whatcha think ? I'm good with just about anything, supposed to be 80 degrees and sunny on Saturday !
Dam_ wish I would have bought a Roadster !
Just my Dos Centavos !

Let's do it then as proposed by Harleyracefan, Beuscher SP to Bastrop SP. Its absolutely Gorgeous 11 miles of twisty cave like woods great photo ops. there's a small lake also and this as proposed by Stogey, Bastrop to Kyle via 21 and into the Hill Country via 150, Wimberly, Blanco up the river road to Lukenback, Stonewall on into Fredricksburg. The clubs can meet at the HEB parking lot in Bastrop as proposed by PAULW at 11:am.

Alrighty, then. The Houston group will meet CTC at the HEB in Bastrop around 11:00, then go into the park or whatever twisty bits you guys think us concrete jungle flatlanders will enjoy. The extra time going the long way (not 290) to Fredericksberg doesn't bother me and I suspect that remainder of Houston will agree.
We are all making our own hotel reservations in Fredericksburg for Saturday night.
