Some local info in case it is helpful to anyone - as a semi local (lockhart), the 21 to 71 drive is a bore. I've been exploring some of the roads around here and looked some route #'s up for a more fun but still short drive. I know that leaving Lockhart on 20 east and turning off on 713 going thru McMahan ultimately ends up hitting 304 south of bastrop and Rosanky at a place called Dehli and was a pretty sweet 2 lane when I drove it a year ago. Also the 2984 loop sort of from Luling to Lockhart thru Joliet is a short but very sweet and curvy ride. For Tx taggers hiway 45 has a nice flat stretch between Buda and 183 I think just after the creedmoor exit but before the lockhart 183 exit. 86 from Mcmahan to Luling is under construction and a drag to drive - gravel, single lanes etc. did that 2 weeks ago, avoid at all costs. BBQ's in Lockhart and Luling all rock.

Of course being new here, I sure dont mean to diss anyones current plans, or think that changes are needed, just not sure how these things work and thought this alternate route might be of interest to some depending on where theey were coming from or going to after. Anyway I will be going to corpus this weekend and if I can, will head out that way to Dehli and scope the route irl.

Everything is set, I have talked to Big Mouth Southwestern Grill and John has talked to the Car Museum so it's all good . I do know of some back roads to take but my original thoughts were not to really make a run, just get us to a place to visit in the AC for fun.

21 isn't so bad. I take it every month to meet you guys in Kyle, or San Marcos, or where ever we meet. Nothing great about it, but it is at least a decent country road, although it does have a dangerous history.

See you all in Bastrop!

I did 337 today from 187 to Leakey. 10mph MEANS 10MPH, likewise 35mph MEANS 35MPH, although I did manage a few triple digit wind sprints.
Good road, fantastic vues and scenery and no traffic. Weekends sure to be dirrerent.
