DFW Xfires - PDC "Show 'n Shine" Event - May 29th
I was contacted by the president of the Cowtown Mopars Performance Team (a former SRT-6 owner) who invited our group to join them in attending a "Show 'n Shine" open house at the Chrysler Parts Distribution Center (PDC) in Carrollton. They will give tours of the facility and provide refreshments. Cowtown Mopars will bring our large smoker trailer for cooking the food. This will be the first time the facility has been open to the public since it opened in 1969.
There is no charge for this event and there will be no formal show with awards. PDC is looking for Chrysler enthusiasts to put their cars, new and old, in front of his employees, the Chrysler corporate bigwigs, dealership people, and their customers such as body shops. There will be 200 parking spaces available.
This will be held Saturday, May 29th from 10 am to 2 pm. The facility is in Carrollton on Beltline Road between Josey and Web Chapel.
This is an incredible opportunity to get some face time with higher level corporate guys. Cowtown Mopars will bring the muscle cars and LX cars. Other car clubs included with this GTG include classic cars, LX cars, Dakotas, Rams, Jeeps, diesels, PT Cruisers, and Prowlers.
Let's get there early so we can park together and represent!

May is a crazy month for me but I am going to do my best to make it to this meet. Will try to bring both my SRT6 and SRT4 to this one!
I know what you mean by busy schedule. The Cowtown Mopars have had something going on nearly every weekend between mid-March and the first part of June.
This is a great chance to get the cars out there and let Chrysler know they haven't been forgotten. As many of you know it's hard to find parts for these cars. I just went through a lot of trouble to locate a rear bumper and spoiler for a car in our body shop. That was just ugly.
Hopefully they'll see some interest in the cars and the PDC manager can do something about what he keeps on hand. More Crossfires on hand means more emphasis on the cars.
That's what I mean by saying it's a BIG opportunity for the enthusiasts.

The month of May is very busy for me too and you're notice of this event totally caught me off guard. I have had a few PM's from member's saying that it conflicts with their plans for Memorial Day weekend but they wish they could attend. However, the majority of the the PM's have been very positive about attending.
The Mrs and I plan to be there with our Xfires and hope many others will as well. This sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I hope to be there as I am in Pa. until that Friday evening so I would not have a lot of time to get the beast ready but if there is no rain, I should make it.
Don't feel bad. I've had 10 years to get my hot rod together and it's still not done.
I can't decide if I should try to swap the injectors and reprogram this Sunday or work on installing the rear AMG brakes.

Count me in! It'll be a rough day for me as I'll be getting off work at 4:30am and then heading back to work again at 6pm the same day! But it's for a good cause... and I'm dying to check out the inside of that place, since I've only been driving past it every Saturday night on my route, for the past year!
The Mopar guys are now going to have a raffle for some Mopar goodies. It will be a canned food drive benefiting the North Texas Food Bank. Be sure to bring something for those in need and get yourself entered in the raffle. the more you bring, the more entries you get.
We've got a lot of people committed to making this happen. Come on out and check out the facility and the rides people bring. I'm working hard to get a few special vehicles out there too.

The hot rod will be there if all goes well. I'm installing the rear Mercedes S55 AMG brakes on it this week. They match the S55 front brakes it's wearing.
The rest of the car will look like poo but that's no biggie. It's a science project, not a show car.
That Aero Blue SRT with tinted windows looks just like the one I sold. Mis-matched front and rear tires too. I miss that little guy.

Woo hoo!! I got my brake conversion finished tonight. It's nice to have a machine shop at home. I couldn't find what I needed so I made the hardware myself.
Unless I manage to kill it somehow, I should be out there in the hot rod. Look for the world's only 1965 Plymouth running a twin turbo fuel injected 440 and Mercedes S55 AMG brakes!

Maybe I'll see my old SRT-6 out there. If not, I might have to distract one of you with a hot dog and take your car for a joy ride.

Very cool! I cant wait to see it.
Thanks guys! We couldn't have done it without you!
At last count, we had 118 vehicles show up. That's mighty impressive for a three week notice and a major holiday weekend. The Chrysler folks were blown away. I was blown away.
The only complaint I heard all day was that they didn't raffle off the Dodge girls.
At the end of the event, they corporate people were asking what they could do for the brand enthusiasts. The Business Manager said he would use all the photos and videos shot today to shame the corporate no-shows.
I personally tried to find each Chrysler employee working the event and thank them for their help. As soon as I introduced myself each one of them thanked me for helping put it all together. They had a great time checking out all the rides.
They're already talking about putting it together again next year and invited the club's board of directors to join in a conference call for the after-action meeting.
We really opened the eyes of the corporation today. Who knows were it will lead? I do know that the folks involved today are pretty high up the corporate food chain and have respect for the brand enthusiasts now that they have seen who we are and what we're all about.
