Default Classic Cruise Along the Corridor

I have not yet received a response from the sponsors of the event, but have found the following information about the event for our information. WE ( Crossfire Owners of South Central Texas) are NOT members of the sponsoring Club, however I will press for information on joining the event.

Alamo Area Council of Car Clubs:

Classic Cruise Along the Corridor

The 21st Annual Classic Cruise Along the Corridor will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010. The start this year is at the Tri Point Center / YMCA at 3233 N. St. Mary's Street at US 281. The cars will be leaving out at 20 minute intervals, starting at 8 a.m. until 9 a.m. Hospitality Stops will be in Elmendorf, Floresville, LaVernia, Sutherland Springs, Seguin, Gonzales, and Luling. WE expect to have between 80 and 100 cars. The cars will be vintage cars, as well as newer sport and muscle cars.

I will keep updated and if it turns out we may join in the festivities, I will ask for recommendations and possibly help from some of you.

thanks; John P

SITREP: I talked to Mr Buzz Durio this morning and he sees no problem in fitting us into the Cruise Line up. The schedule in the previous post was last year's and this years has not yet been finalized.
Basically the car groups start out at 09:00 depending on the size on the group and their itinerary. They will be spread so as not to overwhelm the receptioning committee at the various towns. We will need to decide our route when the official list of towns is announced.
We can put a preferred departure time but we will have to take what is available.

"For 2011 we are working on Hospitality Stops in Elmendorf, Floresville, Falls City Panna Maria, Cestohowa, Stockdale, Sutherland Springs and LaVernia. We may have one or two more. Nothing is finalized yet. We just had our meeting this past Thursday. I will keep you posted."

I will keep you updated as I receive info from him. It's a ways off yet, but those that have a solid interest in this, please let me know on here so I can have a number to give him when he asks.

We are now really looking forward to this, so we will probably make a LO>>>NG weekend of this, which will give us time to visit BILL F this time, so we don't upset him. Ha Ha

What! I have to wait for May? Everyone is welcome to my home. I'm in also John for this, can count as a CTC GTG for May, if we all agree.

Thumbs up Re: Classic Cruise Along the Corridor

Bill, the meeting for the Alamo Area Car Clubs s next (10 Feb) at 19:00
for about 1 hour. Are you going to go with me so we can get the skinny
on the Cruise? I think it's a good time to get introduced and find out the
plans if we are going to make an attempt to go. Some of the Houston folks
were interested, so it's a good time to fill them in Saturday at the Euro-fest.
Let me know and I'll shoot you the addy and a map.

PS here's addy: The Alamo Area Council of Car Clubs meets on the 2nd Thursday
of every month at 7 p.m. in the AACOG Homeland Security Classroom 6,
8700 Tesoro Drive, Suite 165, San Antonio, TX 78217.

Do they have a date yet? I don't want to waste our time checking this out if it is going to be the same date as the TMS. If it will be a different date then I'll go with you.

John, I agree with Bill, I am all for the Corridor trip, as long as it does not conflict with OUR TMS date. I will not miss that. How,s Molly, looking after her I hope.

Lightbulb Re: Classic Cruise Along the Corridor

I have no problem with accepting or decining their invitation. The TMS is of course first priority for us!

See POST # 4 above: It states that this years date for the CRUISE has not yet been decided.

I am going to the meeting they have scheduled to find out what their plans are so I can pass them on at the DYNO-DOO. If I get any info between now and the meeting on the 10th I will pass it along. I don't relish the long drive I have to make for the meeting, but I find it too interesting to pass up.

DON"T anyone be jumping the gun. Dan, InfernoRedxfire is handling the TMS bash and will post a thread this month. The schedule I got from TMS for 2011 is:
05/07/11 Laps for Charity I
Texas Motor Speedway -
You're the driver when Texas Motor Speedway opens the Speedway to the public for the first time this year. Experience the thrill of driving your car around the 1.5-mile superspeedway all to benefit the SCC at Texas Motor Speedway.

09/10/11 Laps for Charity II
Texas Motor Speedway -
You're the driver when Texas Motor Speedway opens the Speedway to the public for the last time this year. Experience the thrill of driving your car around the 1.5-mile superspeedway all to benefit the SCC at Texas Motor Speedway.

This thread is not for the SPEEDWAY event, and will be closed if dates conflict.

The date is something they should have decided on last year. Instead of deciding on a date maybe they should have planned to make it the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th weekend of every May. Anyway it's their baby. As stated before, I would hate to go to the meeting only to find out it is on the weekend of TMS. However, I'll go with you John, come over to my house and we can go together. You can RON at my house so you don't have to make the drive back late.

Bill as I said before, I came across this event by chance and it looked interesting. Several other members, yourself included said it looked good. TMS did not post their dates until this past week so I had nothing to go by.
The Corridor cruise people have been doing this for 22 years and I am not going to tell them to change their procedures for me. It just so happens their meeting, the 2nd thurs of each month happens to fall with our CHANGED date of the 12th, so whatever I find out can be relayed in person to the Houston G/Guys on the 12th and our people by this thread.
Thanks for your RON offer but I have already made reservations to stay overnight in San Antonio and bust out early for Houston after some morning shopping.
I'll be happy to stop by and pick you up if you want and we can go together. Eileen asked me to ask if Sampie would like her to visit while we are at the meeting?
We are one club (2) with 2 events, while the AACofCC is in the dozens. Our committment is to the TMS, anything else is secondary.

I sure did say it looked good. I hope it looks better. My opinion of how they approached things concerning setting a date it is just that, an opinion that was followed by, it's their baby. Nothing I or you can do anything about, not a member in their operation. You posted on 1/17 that the running of the Xfires was on May 7, 2011, thought you had the inside scoop. Hopefully they can set a date so the CTC and others can attend both activities. Sampie would love the company.

Re your surg, hope it's just a lesion. You and I seem to be going down the same path. Tell him to take more than less. I had to have a couple repeated.
As for a post on the 17th...?? this is on the 16th and TMS had not confirmed schedules because of racing date problems: Re: CTC and HAXFD GTG Jan 15. - 01-16-2011 , 04:44 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To those expressing interest in the Cruising the Corridor Event, I will continue to press for information regarding our participation, in the meantime I just got the 2011 schedule for the TMS Charities for Chilrdren. This is subject to change....<<<<<<<<<<<<
There appears to be a no confilict in events for us at this time, but will make a busy two weekends for those participating in both events.

AACOG CRUISING THE CORRIDOR 2011: 05/01/11

05/07/11 Laps for Charity I XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

09/10/11 Laps for Charity II XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

As it turned out the 7 May was posted thjis past week It is a Saturday. If AACOG runs 1 May, it is the preceding SUNDAY. If they decide to go 8 May, we will have to defer We can't make any local plans 'til after next week, but the TMS date is set (XX)crossed fingers.

John P

I will post a new thread for the Cruising the Corridor event, please use this for the Cruising Event ONLY.

A different thread will be posted for the TMS Event.

Thank you
