October 27, 28 & 29, Friday – Sunday – Upper Tampa Bay Oktoberfest, R.E. Olds Park in Oldsmar. One of the largest Oktoberfests in Central Florida, now entering its 11th year. There will be a German car show on Saturday only from 1 to 4 PM. The $10 entry fee includes your entry to Oktoberfest and entitles you (if your car is up to it) to one of the car show prizes. This will be a "Clean Car", "Peoples Choice" type of event. I understand... right now going to reserve for 5 Crossfires to get us in and if there are more then great... if not, then so be it...

Sorry for the confusion. I was out of town at the time and used my old login. Anyways, I will be coming from Patrick with Cherie and we will probably spend the night in Tampa. We are thinking about looking into billeting on base or an inexpensive hotel in the area.

And there are quite a few hotels around the area where the event will be taking place so I can recommend a few and you make that decision. The airbase will be about a 45 minute drive - on a good day, of course. Let me know if you need any recommendations...

UPDATE

Ok, just talked to the guy and here is the scoop.

This is the first year they are trying to have a car show tied in to the event. At this time, their thought is to invite only German-made cars to the Oktoberfest and when I explained to him that our cars are Mercedes SLK's inside but Chrysler outside, he sees where we might fit it to this event. But he's going to run it by his staff to get their thoughts.

If they decide we are a good fit, I will get a flyer by the end of this week that tells me more; if its deemed inappropriate, then we won't be invited.

Ok, got an email from the guy today, and sorry to say, its not good news for us:So we can scratch this off the calendar. But there is always next year, right?

 

What a disappointment. Once again, the Crossfire is the red-headed stepchild.
