We are here - don't worry!!! The last event we did was the Daytona Beach Dream Cruise in Daytona Beach. There are a ton of FL members but we are all really spread out. We have done some track days, picnics, car cruises, caravans to the Dragon. There are some great members in S FL that I'm sure will chime in on this thread. I can tell you that we are 100% doing a caravan to the Dragon in April & the Daytona Beach Dream Cruise in October. I'm sure we will manage to cram a few other get togethers in after the new year!

Hi Kim,

Thanks for your prompt reply re: my question about Crossfire members/groups/events here in Florida. What is the "Dragon" that you refer to??

I'll let Kim or Dan chime in, they are our local "experts". In the meantime you can do a search and get all kinds of information and pics... Welcome!

The Dragon is a great meet that our group does every spring & fall in the mountains of NC. There is a crazy road up there called US129 or "The Tail of the Dragon" that is a mecca for driving enthusiasts. We usually spend a Friday - Sunday there at the Fontana Village. Basically a great time & one of the big Crossfire events for the year.

Here is the link for the Spring Dragon:

https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...-8-9-10-a.html

You can also check out YouTube for about a million Dragon videos. A very good website for general area information is Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap and Cherohala Skyway, Graham Co, NC

People usually caravan in together from the various areas around the country. We will have a group leaving Friday morning in the Spring from Florida. It takes a little over 10 hours from my house in Winter Park to Fontana Village. Its a real easy drive & a ton of fun!!

It's been almost a year since the last GTG I attended (Market of Marion/The Villages Vintage Car Club in Feb. '10).

I've been eagerly checking in the regional forums to see if anything has materialized for Florida.

I'm in Ft. Lauderdale, but I believe there are several members in south Florida that would meet within a couple hours drive.

Come on FL people! Let's figure it out

For any of you folks that would like to convoy up with Kim and me, just let either one of us know. We will be driving up on Friday, April 8 and returning on Monday, April 11. You can count on an EARLY start (nlt 7:00am from somewhere close to the FL/GA line on I-95) and about the same time leaving Fontana Dam, NC for the return trip.

We need to figure out when the next Funday Sunday is at Bithlow. I think that would be the best plan vs a fri night at 6:30pm-11pm. If we do a Sunday then everyone has time to get back home at a reasonable hour.

Here is the link for Orlando Speed World's 2011 schedule. Take a look & see if any dates jump out at us. Just keep in mind the Dragon is April & October + CAA this summer (not that anyone wants to spend a Sunday in the blazing heat in the summer here).

Thanks for so many responses re: a Florida Group of Crossfires!! KimPoint seems like a great organizer...where in Florida are you located KimPoint? Pointcrisp.............email me some info re: where you are located in Sarasota, etc. and maybe we can get together to get things going around here. Do you ever go to any of Lance's car shows in the area? Think we're going this Sat. night at Joey D's in Bradenton(Cortez and U.S. 41) if it's not too cold but will be taking the '02 turquoise T-Bird and not the Crossfire this time. This show is always the 2nd Sat. of the month from 5-9.

I am guessing that KimPoint is supposed to be me....lol. I am in Winter Park, so Orlando area. I love going to car cruises in this area. Lots of other places have a great opportunity for great country driving - not so much here. Flat & straight is great for a drag strip, not so much for exciting road driving. There are a few great places but a lot of traffic getting there. I would like to have a GTG down on the west coast south of Tampa - there is a great hotdog place featured on Man vs Food that looked neat & the drive would probably be nice too. I think I would have to go over the Skyway Bridge to get there. Maybe someone in that area could look into it?!?
